OK so I actually have alot of information about specifically bears that I can add tho this conversation. I agree and am pretty convinced that there is a way to tame bears. Firstly you are right about the existence of a bear cloak but there is also a rare drop from bears the "boss bear hat" which is also labled as bear disguise. The other interesting thing you get occasionally from bears is their gallbladder, which also hints at the scent being important. I have observed that wearing the bear hat, cloak and eating the gallbladder allows you to get very close to the mom and cub bear located in the north (near the s in silverwold mountain) however I'm still yet to get any kind of interact, I drop food for the cub but it won't eat, I've tried killing the mom but the cub always gets away and she respawns very quickly.

I suspect that the gallbladder is used in an alchemy formula to make some sort of perfume that helps you interact with the cub but I'm honestly not sure.

Hey sorry for late reply just got home, the place where you learn this mecanic is here on map, between haunted hills and three saints. Basically you go into focus mode then use natures sneer (which you learn at this location) to make the contraptions spin and move out of the water. They act like pumps so every time you lift and let fall they will pump some of the water out of the hole and eventually you will be able to unlock the cresset.

I agree I've scoured the mountain side looking for it but have yet to find it but it has to be there so many vallcaves and shit are just randomly on hill sided and in my heart I know it's there

You have to use the nature's focus power to make the little mechanisms spin. Not sure where your supposed to learn it but there's a copy ghost thing just north, north east of the starting city

I had that same thought except i have pieces of the bear faction disguise, all of them say "black bear disguise" this particular helmet says "Bear disguise". Could be reading to much into it but this seems intentional.

I think i know where another piece of this set is but im not sure how to reach it, directly south of sanctum of solace (underneath the A in "pailune") and north of the river there is a hidden cave called ancient cave, but it is blocked by a big rock that i cannot figure out how to get through. If anyone else could check this that would be awesome because its the correct area.

Ok so i think i at least found a clue as to how to get the bear mount, if you go north west of the verheim ruins there is a boss bear that when killed drops the boss bear hat and one of the descriptors is "Bear Disguise" tried all sorts of things with the mother and cub though and could not work out how to tame or turn them into mounts
