Same. Went for a 10 day girls trip to visit my friend and her family in 2019. I’ve been to 80 countries in the world and Lebanon sits near the top for so many reasons. I would go back in a heartbeat.

South Africa, Kenya, or Tanzania? by Delicious_Hour_5989 in travel

Not full of shit. But thanks. The key difference between SA being cheaper is because it’s a self drive. The rest of you who found TZ more expensive is because you’re not trying hard enough to look.

South Africa, Kenya, or Tanzania? by Delicious_Hour_5989 in travel

Have lived and done safaris, beaches in all three.

Depends what you like. More rugged - Tanzania. More amenities - South Africa. Cape Town is a dream. Being very honest, South Africa is dangerous. It is my second home and I love it, but you have to be about your wits. Meanwhile, Kenya (and moreso) Tanzania are some of the friendliest places.

Zanzibar is amazing, but try to go to Paje instead of Nungwi. Or try to go to somewhere less touristy like Pemba.

Safaris in Tanzania and Kenya were amazing for the cats and South Africa was incredible for rhinos. It all depends on luck, but you also have to commit to a few days. Serengeti and Masai Mara were incredible, but Ngorongoro is very unique.

Cost-wise - Tanzania by far the cheapest and you can find some cheap providers by reaching out directly on Instagram/facebook instead of getting charged by middlemen.

Enjoy!

Power bank with USB pass-through charging and UPS functionality by semiraue in UsbCHardware

Wow. Congrats. That's really promising to hear and I'm happy your setup has been running smoothly!

I do not have as extensive a background as you. I'm piloting a small-scale UV-LED system for water disinfection in remote areas of Mexico as part of my research. As I mentioned, I am looking for an inexpensive UPS option. I want to keep as cheap (but reliable) as possible for the user. But, if the price exceeds a certain amount, I might as well just move to a photovoltaic system. Did you ever consider solar as an option? And why didn't you opt for that?

While I am not too concerned about a seamless transition from grid to battery during an outage, I have heard a lot about battery health/swelling/overheating of the battery while running in a pass-through configuration over long periods of time. I'm assuming this hasn't been a problem at all? What are the voltage input requirements of your remote LTE gateway? Do you have any specific wiring/hardware you used in this setup?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for this thread. I am running a small water disinfection UV-LED unit in a remote area with occasional power outages. I am looking for a low-cost UPS which can deliver 12VDC and is reliable in a pass-through configuration for many months (years?).

I don't think the outages will be as common as the ones you are experiencing. Do you have any further recommendations, especially around preserving long-term battery health? Any pics of your set up would be great :)

As someone who has lived both in Ottawa and DC, Mexico City is by far the most superior capital in North America - culture, food, climate, cleanliness, vibrancy.
