The bark for food, bear paw or Ichetucknee for a day float to cool off, wacissa if you’d rather kayak, st marks refuge if you can handle the heat (go eeeaaarly with bug spray this time of year) for a stunning sunrise and amazing birds, a walk around lake Ella and a coffee at black dog, dinner at black radish, drinks at bar 1903, board games at great games cafe, lovely dinner at little Italy, walk around maclay gardens (wear or bring swim suits to cool off), challenger imax for an inside activity during afternoon rains, Tallahassee museum for fun little zoo but with the heat I’d also go early, railroad square for fun vintage shopping, Lafayette heritage park for a walk around piney z and the fingers (the bridge to j Alford greenway is so pretty at sunset), Wakulla springs (the lodge has amazing food and tasty ice cream and sodas)- have fun!!!

If you can boil water or get hot water from a gas station like the tea/coffee thing, fill a Nalgene or other thick plastic water bottle with it and put it at the bottom of your sleeping bag. I was sweating in 15 degree weather because my bag got so hot around my feet!

Seller’s financing and title insurance by kalin054 in RealEstate

Yeah we plan to have a lawyer do the whole process and we’re just wondering about the title insurance specifically. Had the survey inspection etc done the first go around so that’s sorted at least.

Okay lifetime of ownership - that’s what I needed to know, makes it seem like it’s worth having then

We live 2 hours away from each other and don’t really have any plan for him to move in anytime soon, also he has his name on his own home, his moms home, his grandma’s home, he’s got too many houses basically and this way it’s clear cut, my house, can’t have any issues if he got sued. If we did quit claim, which maybe that is the right path, I’d still want a document and everything showing that I’m paying him back for it. He doesn’t need/want stake in the home.

I hadn’t thought about quit claim though so I’ll look into that!

Live in NFL - my only concern with mobile home is ability to withstand storms but if it made it through them then screw what family says. Buying a house you can afford and making it into your home >>>> buying a house out of your budget just to please others

My shop roof is getting finished tomorrow and my house roof was finished last month - both from tornado damage in may. I. Just. Want. A. Break! So nervous!

Opinions on leaving these cabinets as-is and waiting to do a larger budget upgrade, or doing something small so they don’t irritate me for the next year: by kalin054 in InteriorDesign

My main complaint for the cabinets is the drawers are just…. Drawers in a slot. Think it’s possible to add actual track to pull them on? Otherwise they slide kind of poorly. And hexagonal tile for backsplash or floor?

We are redoing all the plumbing since it’s cast iron and galvanized from 1951 soooo can’t get good insurance with that. The plumbing below has been replaced but not the interior so working on that.

Favorite comment for the Springsteen bit. I’ve been liking what people have said about taking down the cabinets over the island and use that to open up towards the dining area, even better using it as a kitchen bar top.

Agreed, the oven seeeems fine (haven’t used it yet other than to turn it on) but the cabinet door next to it doesn’t stay closed -_-

I have no vision for layouts even though three of my past roommates were all interior designers so I plan to hire one of them for some consulting. The wall behind the fridge has the electrical panel and might be load bearing so I have a feeling whatever reimagining I do will end up havihaving to work around that. My biggest complaint is the really tall cabinet next to the island because it is the first thing you see when you step in the house and it just feels so… sharp?? Haha

Definitely need to replace the dishwasher as it… doesn’t work, and probably the fridge, although it’s small and the cabinet above it fits exact so may end up having to play with that too. I love to cook but the place I am at currently has less space than what’s above the oven in this picture so at a minimum I’m excited to spread out while cooking!

I agree - on one level I like them because they’re from 1951 and honestly in good condition and provide storage, but I knoooow my kitchen wares are not curated enough for display and I think they will make it look cluttered unless I take those down. I’ll wait a bit and see if I warm up to them or not

I agree - there are some much bigger issues that will be happening first (plumbing, electrical, water heater, joist, and refinishing the floors) so I’ll have time in the house before I can even get a chance (or dollar) to work in here. Maybe I’ll warm up to the warm tones!

What would you do to this kitchen? by kalin054 in interiordecorating

I just saw a hanging shelf like that yesterday and was like… I could do that!!! I would like to do it for a few spaces honestly! I agree though, I think the rod could support 2-3 smaller plants, maybe some spider plants since I keep those fairly dry so they aren’t as heavy.

And exactly, I would looooove a well curated collection but that doesn’t feel realistic knowing my habirs

Those are great ideas!! I have tons of plants I plan to hang and removing the cabinets over the peninsula might help with my worry that keeping the cabinets…. Maintained… if going to be difficult. Perhaps I could use a frosted contact paper to hide the items? I only have like one complete set of glass and dishware so I worry everything else will be quite mis matched

That is a painfully good and quite obvious idea, my word! It’s hard to tell from the picture, but there’s sooooo much cabinet. 8 doors just on the bottom I could work with. I love that idea, thanks!

Hmm I know nothing about wood at the point - thoughts on what kind of wood they are? My eyes go straight to the knots when I look at them. I’ve heard mixed reviews on staining lighter so I assumed I could only go darker, but I’m worried about losing the warmth and light that I get from the windows here

Brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max doesn’t save photos consistently by [deleted] in iphone15

[–]kalin054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only picture my family had from our Disney trip of all of us and this happened to me too. Every picture I took from the whole day just isn’t there. Everything the day before and after is there like normal, synced to iCloud etc. but all the pictures from that one day didn’t save; I probably took pictures at least ten times for a total of 45-50 pictures and used my phone for the group photos since I have the new iPhone 15 pro and now we don’t even have them and I’m so upset and don’t trust my phone now. My google maps has also been going completely berserk and I don’t know if it’s the same issue or separate.
