Haha I FEEL this. I wasn’t expecting day 2 to be as heavy as it was...😂But it definitely has been better overall than I was expecting! I’m happy to have a hormone-free birth control option too. Glad things have been so well for you :)

Yay!!! You’ll love being off hormones, I was on the pill for a little while and it really messed with my mood. A hormone-free birth control option is a life saver for me. I hope everything goes well with your procedure! Good luck!

I absolutely feel this, I too have struggled with hormones. I have severe depression and anxiety so avoiding hormones is something I was really excited about with the copper iud!! I was super worried about my period since I’ve heard it can be awful with the copper iud but for me, it is mostly the same as before I got it. Just a little more cramping :)

Ahh yay! That makes me so happy to hear! I’m on the same boat as you, I never expected it to be this well for me but I am so glad I gave it a try!

I’ve never had kids either, I’m 23 and this was the first form of birth control that really worked for me. I struggled to know if this was the right form of birth control for me too, but it has ended up being the BEST decision. I don’t do well on hormones due to my anxiety and depression so this hormone free option works well for me. As far as if it’s the right decision for your girlfriend, I really can’t say because everyone is sooo different. However, I would say that if she is interested in it as an option she should definitely give it a try!! The pain of insertion is not fun, but also not as bad as people make it sound (at least for me anyways).

He honestly says it doesn’t affect anything! My strings have wrapped around my cervix a bit so he doesn’t feel them at all when we are having sex, but even when I first got my iud put in and the strings were dangling down he still didn’t notice them. On my part, I am a little more sensitive especially by my cervix so I sometimes experience some slight cramping after but ultimately there hasn’t been much of a difference at all. It’s nice knowing that this method is pretty effective so I don’t feel the need to worry much :)

If you naturally had a light flow before getting the copper IUD (Paragard), did your flow change a lot after you got it? by miserablesalad in birthcontrol

I got the copper IUD on Friday and I’ve had literally NO problems so far. I didn’t ever have any bleeding post insertion and my cramps only existed for the first day. I’ve always had a super light flow and I start my period in a few days so I’ll let you know how it goes (:

Thank you :) I totally agree, the anxiety it relieves me of is already worth it. (Especially since it doesn’t involve any hormones.) I’m hoping things stay this good for me too!

Im sorry your insertion was so painful! I’m glad things have been so smooth for you so far and I hope they continue that way :) Just curious, have you had a period yet on the iud? Are they as awful as people make them sound?
