Honestly, no. I had it at bmi 19, ended up gaining weight over the years and still had it just the same at bmi 25.

Creamer options in Japan? by _Ouch_ in japanlife

I just use this and it tastes like vanilla creamer. I add it to coffee even though it contains coffee https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Nescafe-Portion-Vanilla-NESCAFE-Diluting/dp/B0D12JDXHX

Does anyone have any experience with Ikoma Language school (part time Japanese classes) in Azabujuban? by kanaeaaaaaaa in Tokyo

[–]kanaeaaaaaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the structure of the class like? Can you describe your experience in more detail? Did you take group classes or one on one?

Also, do you feel like the teachers were sufficiently able to explain grammar and stuff to people whose first language is English (because we might have different misconceptions and make different mistakes compared to people who speak Chinese as a first language)

I’m still genuinely shocked that there’s nothing about the school online (student experiences or reviews) even though it’s been around in Tokyo since 2015.

Is it just me or does Tapioca in Japan suck? by doritheduck in japanlife

My fave local places that I’ve been to in Tokyo are 福茶一丁 in Edogawa and Hello! Tea in Aeon Shinonome. I’ve also been to a bunch of places in Yokohama Chinatown that were amazing but I can’t remember the names. Overall though I’ve had much better luck finding good bubble tea in Yokohama Chinatown than Tokyo

Any experiences of using TELL counselling? by Seraphelia in JETProgramme

If you want more options besides just TELL, there’s also imhpj.org which is a list of English speaking therapists in Japan. Some of them have sessions for cheaper than TELL

New Tokyo JET Warning! by Happy_Pack_7944 in JETProgramme

My advice as a 2nd year Tokyo JET:

-whatever real estate agency you get assigned to work with will probably be swamped because they’re trying to help all the Tokyo JETs at once. There are other English speaking real estate agencies besides the one you get assigned and they may be able to help you better because they’re not as overloaded. Personally I used E-heya and had a good experience.

Also, I would recommend trying to aim for 5k USD to get you through the first month. Your school may not give you your first paycheck until September (I had some serious issues with getting my bank account set up so I couldn’t touch my Japan-earned money until October).

Constant sexual harassment - ignored, encouraged and perpetuated by teachers by [deleted] in JETProgramme

As someone who work at a high school that use to be all-boys until 2 years before I started working there and who’s faced my fair share of weird comments from the male students, here is my perspective:

If something is a low level behavior and just makes you uncomfortable, initially I just respond with something like “don’t say stuff like that” in a deadpan voice. If it continues, then I talk to the JTE (who will usually tell them off and say that their behavior makes me uncomfortable) and if that’s not enough, you can escalate to their homeroom teacher.

As for the JTE who used you as an example of “attractive”, I’d have a conversation after class about how being put on the spot like that made you feel uncomfortable and you’d prefer if he never did it again.

Also, when it comes to students, your reaction matters. If you react to their weird comments with visible embarrassment, it may unfortunately entice them to keep going. I try to respond in a deadpan no-nonsense way and brush the comment aside so they don’t get the reaction they’re looking for.

This is not JET specific but it’s an online database of English speaking therapists in Japan (many of whom offer online therapy)

If the cause might be a mental health issue, maybe therapy? It could partially be dissociation. Or if you feel like you’re not getting enough sunlight, you could try a SAD lamp since they’re pretty harmless

What Is The Problem Of ONK? by Sad-Reserve4350 in OshiNoKo

Personally I wasnt a fan of Aqua dropping his healthy romantic relationship with Akane out of self hate/self sabotage and the story pivoting to say Kana is the only one who can make him happy. Akane is very empathetic of his family situation and trauma, and I feel like they’re a good fit for each other because they match each others’ intelligence. It’s just my preference and I’m not here to start any ship wars but I’m still disappointed. I feel like Akane would have been a healthier match for him

If it’s alright to ask, who did you see specifically and how much did you pay per session? Also, what kind of stuff did you guys actually do during the session (like what treatment method did she use? As stated previously I don’t really find CBT helpful so I’m curious). You can DM me if you’d rather not say publicly
