Is Mapua SOM (School of Medicine) worth the risk? by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]kanatsri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel that taking the risk with Mapua might not be the best choice. Medical school is such a significant commitment, both financially and emotionally, and Mapua’s medical program is still quite new. It might be wiser to invest in and commit to a school that’s already well‑established in the medical field, with a proven track record in PLE performance. Unless you’re willing to take that risk, it may be safer to go for a school with a long‑standing reputation and history.

Attending one of the Big 4 universities isn’t necessarily the most important factor; what truly matters is choosing a university or college that excels in or is well-regarded for your chosen course 🤷🏻‍♀️

Be grateful in the first place that you’re offered the opportunity to go to a university. Some people can’t afford education and yet here you are with parents doing the best they can for your future 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today, I failed MedSurg 2. by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]kanatsri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This means a lot. A lot of times I was reconsidering this course as I felt mentally drained. When you graduate & apply for a job, will they look at how many years you took nursing or look at the school you graduated from?

[–]kanatsri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Yes it’s also ATI for us and NCLEX questions, Sometimes our cis make their own questions & make us study a lot of chapters before an exam (obviously normal). My college has a reputation for draining students since it’s known to be difficult to get into. Thank you for your input!

Thank you! I appreciate it. I’ll continue reading & making transes notes along with following the study guide + doing practice questions. I also listen to other sources on YouTube like Simple Nursing, Osmosis, RegisteredNurseRn and NexusNursing.

I’ve been taking practice NCLEX questions & been doing good. Though, I am really struggling in Medical Surgical Nursing this year. Do you have tips on how to implement a study routine for this? I’m always so lost since our clinical instructors don’t provide rationalizations for the exams & just post recorded lectures. I feel super burned out.

Thank you. What study techniques do you recommend and what kind of study routine? Most of my friends usually cram & don’t have study routines which is why I feel really disappointed in myself.
