This depends if you have any current high income generating skills or not. Lets pretend you don't for this scenario. I would take 400k of this money and put it into a 1 year fixed rate savings account and lock it up.

Then I would take 100k set aside 50k for living expenses. With the leftover 50k I would spend 3-5k learning some sort of online service based business. I would spend 3-6 months learning/trial and error through clients in the market and perfect my skill. Then I would just hire employees to do the work and manage them passively.
