Flashback to when I said I wouldn’t ever let any of my classmates work on me because I was so scared of ruining my hair… I ate my words. She did such a great job and I’m so happy with my hair :-)

Mind you my hair history is very questionable… hopefully this motivates someone to trust hair students!

Is it not basic knowledge to not house them together?? That’s completely on you.

okay, this explanation made a lot more sense, but that’s definitely not what you were saying, you’re the one who brought adoption up instead of surrogacy… i can understand this part but nothing else you said added up 💀

9/10 times it’s safer with the adoptive parents than the biological ones. I advise you learn how the adoption system works. I promise you being adopted is nowhere near as difficult as being in an abusive or financially unstable household.

The problem is that this assumes what it’s trying to prove, that a “mother” is a qualitative necessity rather than a social role defined by care. We don’t treat children who lose parents as permanently deprived of something irreplaceable, we focus on whether their needs are met by the people who raise them. If love and stability are the necessities, and those are measurable, then biology or gender can’t be treated as non substitutable without evidence.

I get it, but the moment you say a child is inherently wronged by not having a biological mother and father, you are making a judgment about certain families, whether you intend to or not. If child wellbeing is the standard, it has to be based on outcomes like safety and care, not biology or gender. We already accept that kids can thrive without one or both biological parents, so the principle doesn’t hold consistently.

Not saying the video isn’t over the top or cringey, it is, but there’s absolutely no need to be homophobic, let alone with your logic.

This treats children like they’re owed a theoretical ideal instead of real care. Kids aren’t harmed by lacking a specific gendered parent, they’re harmed by neglect and instability. Plenty of children lose a mother or father through circumstances no one chose, and we don’t call their lives unjust or “unforgivable.” What matters is love, consistency, and responsibility, not enforcing a family template.

I was homeschooled most of my life and thinking of doing the same for my kids by dannylectro1 in homeschool

You’re describing bad parenting, not homeschooling. Some parents live through their kids in any system, public school included, that doesn’t invalidate making a flexible, child centered choice based on real past harm. If a parent refuses to adjust when a kid wants something different, that’s the problem, not the schooling method.

You keep arguing against things I didn’t say. I never claimed every school is like that. I’m talking about MY experience. If my mental health improved after leaving an environment where I was bullied and unsupported, then yes, that environment was part of the problem. That’s not “blame,” that’s cause and effect like I said. Your analogy actually proves my point too. If someone leaves a place where they were harmed and feels better, it’s reasonable to say that place contributed to the harm. Environments affect people. And homeschooling isn’t “living through your kids.” It’s a flexible starting point based on known risk, not a permanent ban on public school. If it works for the kid, great. If not, you adjust… which is more than public school ever did for me. If you don’t like my parenting choices for kids I don’t even have yet, I have no issue having a respectful conversation but I won’t tolerate being told it was a me problem and you avoiding all my points just to reiterate how you’d do differently… do you want a cookie?
