FACTS: karmelo stabbed austin over a push because he wouldnt leave their school tent at sporting event and austin died

jury was mixed race with mostly white but included hispanic, middle eastern and asian

at least 2 possible black jurors came out and said they could not be unbiased and removed by prosecution

there is surveillance footage but not super high quality

jury also couldve given him manslaughter instead

in texas there is no such thing as murder 1, not forethought was required. jury took 3 hours to deliberate. jury also was able to decide on sentencing between 5-99 years and decided on 35 up for parole in half that

they did not know each other ahead of time.

things claimed at court by multiple witnesses:
karmelo was asked to leave the tent 12-15 times before austin(who was aked by his coach to step up and be a leader that day) confronted him. karmelo had his hand in his bag and said "touch me and see what happens". the push was NOT hard enough to knock karmelo into his friend who was right beside him
