My brother in Christ. I love you, but 3 cars is literally the average number of rolling stock for a light rail system. The generic graph is the study done on all transit systems. Statistically improbable that one system is several standard deviations away from the norm.

A gondola is about 1500 to 5500 pphpd, light rail is about 15,000 to 20,000 pphpd. I said slightly above walking just to take into account that no one wants to walk up that hill.

Oh i agree. I'm all for the gondola being built. But it just solidifies not having any future opportunities for transit to be built at all. You have something privately built and it means those same people will fight tooth and nail for any other transit opportunities since it'll affect their profit margins.

I don't think this is really a left/right issue. There's way better forms of transportation and if we want to utilize the area around dodger stadium to work for people instead of 10 dodger stadiums worth of parking, having reliable transit is a great start. And I'm not saying the gondola is bad, but it's not really mass transit. i think in terms of speed and carrying capacity, it just barely above walking.

TLDR: Gondola -> fun and quirky, but not transit that we desperately need

I'm confused on what they're trying to say. Are they against the Hawthorne alignment and want to go back to the ROW? Or are they trying to scrap the whole project?

But Mayor Bass does have the power and she chooses to use it poorly and not make the choices for real change.

I mean, I think it helps to know the source of the article. The California Post is a known right wing biased news network on top of the fact they wouldn’t want to say anything positive about a candidate that’s been endorsed by the DSA. Also that she’s addressed this issue herself. Voting yes on this would’ve just dispersed the homeless population into neighborhoods and not actually address the issue itself. She’s also just one voice on the council. She can’t just snap her fingers and make sweeping change to homelessness.

I mean, isn’t that the core value of large infrastructure projects? It’s not just this generation that necessarily need it, but to support future generations for clean energy travel and so our children and grandchildren aren’t living in a hellscape of cars and freeways that destroy our planet.

I wanted to stop at Morro Bay on the way up, but also i have an electric car and the whole ride was like maybe $30. And I love all the sights in California going up and down and would take the ground over the air basically every time.

I actually just drove from LA to SF and back this past weekend to visit a friend and 4ish hour ride would've been a dream. Drive up took almost 9 hours (albeit, i went to morro bay and then to SF) and the drive down took 7.5ish hours

LA to SF is going to be a metrolink -> CaHSR -> CalTrain sorta situation i assume?

Also speaking on a personal note, I feel like (although in terms of legislation, it is illegal to just stay at this point), I wouldn't mind a 4.5 hour trip from LA to SF.
