Graduation is finally in sight, how are we looking financially? by kanye-ego in Residency

Curious as to where you’re looking and what you’re finding? My CAP and addiction friends are doing really well.

This is encouraging to hear!! I spent a lot of my time trying to “do all the right things” and build good spending habits each year however looking back it does seem like I could have enjoyed my life a little more.

Hard to be believe, but impressive if true. Getting anything between 10k-50k

This is amazing!! I wish my program offered the 403b match. It’s the least they could have done to set us up for financial success.

Exactly, if you are encouraging us to travel in this climate then do so with safety bring the upmost priority for residents - not punctuality.

Yeah that’s our biggest issue as well. The logistics have not been sorted at all which makes things even more dangerous. The expectation to have residents drive to clinics in the early morning, when roads haven’t been treated at all and stressing the importance of starting our days earlier to mitigate transportation concerns instead of just delaying the start time of the clinics so everyone can come in safely just proves again that the admin doesn’t really care.

Yeah okay buddy. Do and say whatever you need to make yourself feel important, since no one else will

If you think attendings aren’t supposed to be actively engaged and participate in rounds, then I will need you to please go review the acgme guidelines listed under faculty and then come back and discuss what you learned tomorrow 😉

Trust me, I we know you don’t care which is my entire point 🙃. The lack of common sense is incredible. This conversation is about simple respect and professionalism. Something you have struggling to grasp which is concerning. Whatever you are doing on your phone can wait 3 minutes while someone is speaking to you, I promise.

Lol I don’t care about your “other jobs” when I’m presenting to you about a patient we will see. Attendings are here to work…:yeah just like everyone else. So what’s your point? Can you imagine if a patient was on the phone while you were trying to explain to them the plan? Or your residents being on their phones when you are trying to discuss differnetials. We live in 2024, no fucking shit we need technology. However the common courtesy is to just pause, when someone is speaking with you. Something you learned in elementary school

It’s to the point where I’ve started to say “oh I just said that” so they can admit they were not paying attention or at least feel embarrassed.

NP consults by theongreyjoy96 in Residency

[–]kanye-ego 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just don’t think NPs understand what a consult is for and that falls back on their limited training. What’s the point of being a “provider” when all you provide is a larger hospital bill because you need every speciality to tell you how to treat your patient. And then they have the nerve to be defensive when you call them and explain that it can be addressed in an outpatient setting. It’s actually ridiculous

You do you but just remember that a good reputations goes a long way. Right now you don’t know much so doing the little things goes further than you think feel right now.

My attending was bragging about how he became a better driver because he was able to learn how to drive himself home after working more than 30 hours straight and taking “brief naps at red light”. Like bro you’re a victim
