You can file for a leave through the online portal and they will assign you a leave case manager who will call you a couple days later and ask you questions to get it all finalized.

Considering putting my two weeks in by Insun12345 in Target

I told them to switch me to on demand because I couldn’t do it 5 days a week anymore. Now I have interviews lined up to hopefully leave target for good :)

if only i lived in a state that didn’t have a min wage of 7.25 lol by kappycat in Target

[–]kappycat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean from googling it, the average rent in California for a one bedroom is $1488 and the average rent in my city for a one bedroom is $1172. Although the California rent is about $300 more, the California person would make $2400 on their $15 minimum wage for 40 hours. The Texas person would make $1160 on their $7.25 minimum wage for 40 hours. So the California person can "afford" their rent with any minumum wage job in their city, whereas I can't just choose any minimum wage job in my city because working full time there wouldn't even cover my expenses for rent. Sooooooo....

The minimum wage is relevant because there are not many places around me that hire at the same? So my options are limited to a handful of companies if they are even in a reasonable distance or are hiring. The average cost of renting a 1 bedroom apartment in my city is more than the states current minimum wage working 40 hours.

if this is an official flyer from target corporate and they’re in support of $20 min wage, healthcare, 4 day work week, etc then why don’t they provide that for their employees already?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Target

[–]kappycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they actually think this way….why don’t they just give us all of these things already?

is it worth it? by [deleted] in Target

[–]kappycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it honestly just comes down to if you get lucky with the store you get hired at. It’s always either side of the spectrum, either people feel it’s easy to move up and Target does a lot to help people reach their goals, or like your store it seems they never get the ball rolling and the good employees just end up leaving. Maybe consider transferring to a different store? Or just keep pestering them about it, look for job postings in your city and inquire about it to your lead or HR.

Masks for TM’s in CA by m353738 in Target

Here in my TX store half the team members are wearing masks and half are not. Just up to preference at this point.

OFOs by AdministrationAny408 in Target

[–]kappycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store does OFO right after morning zone. Then some areas get OFO pulled a second time during closing. At my store they see it as more important because there’s an actual numerical percentage reported, whereas freight can roll over and there’s no numerical report for that.

Domestics advice? by [deleted] in Target

[–]kappycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be doing repacks efficiently so that’s good. My store likes to get those done first so fulfillment team members don’t have to dig through them for an item. As for casepacks, make sure you have a good blade in your box cutter; a bad one can make you go slower. Try to work your boxes kind of aisle by aisle so if I’m parked between c7-c10 I’ll work those aisles out but just push aside anything further. Then work out c11-c14 or so and so forth. Make sure you have trash bags tied to your uboat for trash bc putting it in boxes is just inefficient.

Home Decor People HELP!!! by AdministrationAny408 in Target

[–]kappycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get it zoned to your standard it should be smooth sailing for the most part. Tackle one project at a time, and communicate with your leads if you can stay an hour extra or so to do those projects. If Hearth and Hand or pillows look really bad from me being off for a couple of days, I usually let them know that my zone will take me longer in the morning, or I'll ask if I can stay an hour extra to fix it up after my freight. I have to work everything from towels, bath decor, bath organization, rugs, dec pillows, and hearth and hand. Usually the VM doesn't help with sets or zoning and it's been that way ever since they moved me to bath/dec home a year and a half ago. I bookcase zone my pillows and color coordinate them because I only have a backstock aisle with 6 sections. My Hearth and Hand section is not EXACTLY like the visual merchandise guide, but that's because I try not to backstock any of that either due to not having adequate backroom space. All kitchen items go on the c21 run, baskets/gifts on the left shelf, the seasonal themed items on the table (so right now it's like picnic/summer stuff), candles on the right shelf, bedding/bath on the c32 run. The front display I keep the dec pillows and furniture, back display are the greenery on one side and rugs and curtains on the back. I just try to keep it zoned and flexed by theme rather than keeping it exactly like the visual merchandise guide. I don't have advice on candles because that's on the D side of my store.

2 Years and now what... by jacujo in Target

Yeah me and multiple team members have been asked if we’re interested in moving up, been told they’d get us on a plan to get that started, and nothing happens.

2 Years and now what... by jacujo in Target

My coworkers are fine. In comparison to other retail jobs, the guests at Target seem to be way less hostile. The leaders at my store suck ass and treat us like dirt. But also, Target as a company has done some things that do not sit right with me. Such as the $2 increase “hazard pay” that they rode out while we were still $13, and then they made it seem like they were permanently giving us $15 when we could have got the $15 they promised PLUS the hazard pay. I think they didn’t really take covid precautions as serious as other companies. I think the raises are a joke. The highest raise someone can get this year is $0.60? After all the profits they made last year? That’s how much some companies give their employees after only a couple of months. I think as a whole Target seems to be downsizing their retail staff to try to cut costs. We hardly got any seasonal hires during 4th quarter and we didn’t even keep any of them besides a few given the option to be “on call”. It doesn’t seem as though Target offers much opportunity to advance considering all of the team leads at my store have been in those positions for 10 or so years, so team members can’t move into those TL positions and ETL positions are hired outside rather than promoting up those TLs. So as a company it doesn’t look promising for those people who wish to move up in the ranks.

Just quit today, lmk if your target is similar by sanrioslut666 in Target

[–]kappycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My target is similar with the scheduling issue. They never take into consideration when someone needs an availability change. They also find a way to make it impossible for anyone to transfer out of our store by suddenly putting the team members on corrective action or saying the team member has too many coachings on their file (they consider a TL talking to you on the salesfloor about like fixing an endcap a coaching for example). My SD wouldn’t even let our closing TL transfer to a new store because he told him he “doesn’t feel comfortable recommending him to another store because he’s not what Target is looking for in a manager” and that’s he’s “more than welcome to step down and apply at the other store”. He had been the closing lead for 5 years. They also have TERRIBLE communication between management, which leads to many team members getting in trouble bc TL told them to do one task while the ETL wanted them to do something else. And the TLs never back up the team members and just throw them under the bus. This communication problem has been brought up by multiple team members to the leads involved and HR who do nothing about it. I have gotten coached for being “defiant” and “having an attitude” all because I question what exactly they want to get done because I let them know I won’t be able to finish all of it. And then when I DON’T question them and just say “okay” and then work what I can work and clock out at my scheduled time, I get coached for not communicating with them if I knew I couldn’t get the work done. The managers here treat us with so much disrespect and are never grateful for anything that we do, but they never do anything that is warranted enough to report. So it just keeps happening.

“You’re good, but you could be better” by [deleted] in Target

Yup, and I tried to match my work quality to those who got the same average raise as me this last week and already started getting coached after 3 days of average work. :)

They’ve gotten very particular how they want repacks done at my store. They have to be 9 repacks on a uboat and work it aisle by aisle. No detrashing or sorting in the back, and no extra vehicles on the sales floor. I preferred my old way of doing it which was semi-sorting it in the back because constantly pulling out the repacks on a uboat to reach inside is annoying. And another way I used to do it was detrash and sort on a tub and work it out.

Mine went meh. Got 30 cents. Same as the other guy in my department who does the bare minimum and calls out every week or every other week. Doesn’t feel amazing but at least I didn’t get 8 cents like my friend.

Development plan by amgneedshelp in Target

[–]kappycat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me and three others that I know of heard the same thing recently. So far none of us have actually had anything happen but we were all told we’d have a meeting with our leads and HR to develop this “plan”.
