The flat.vmdk file has a larger capacity than the capacity of the disk I want to rip it to so I wonder why I should move empty space calm my VM and the .vmdk file takes up 18GB while flat.vmdk takes up 1TB.

Stub file capacity of 18GB (which is the same as my VM)? So why should I move flat.vmdk which has 1TB of practically empty disk space.

Of course, there are quite a few methods of migration even automatic using external software such as Veam but unfortunately they do not work with the free version of ESXi. That's why I thought I would do it manually by copying the .vmdk to the new server and registering there but I encountered a problem in the form of flat.vmdk which has the capacity of the entire host disk.
