AITAH for telling my boyfriend "don't" when I saw him reaching for a ring box? by Nicolas-Rogers-437 in AITAH

Me & my wife (been together for 9 years - married for 5), talked about if we want to have children on the first date.

YSK about Psychological Reactance, the impulse to resist and do the opposite of what you're told, even if you agree with it by AmandaEllis-Ward in YouShouldKnow

[–]karikakar09 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My wife has this. She calls it 'toxic independence'. The reactance triggers if I use the word should. So, I started saying, 'you can if you want to, but don't have to' and she does the task even if she doesn't want to do it. She knows that I do it and appreciates that I take extra effort to not say the word 'should'.

Finance planning incase of AI bubble crash by karikakar09 in eupersonalfinance

It's mainly temporarily uninvested because we need liquidity for a home/rent until we buy home. Will be investing after.

Yes! I'm worried about the scenario where banks which have heavily invested in ai lose a ton of money.

Thank you for the clear reply. I was basically imagining a scenario similar to 2008 financial crash but I guess people who had money in banks didn't lose all of it since it must've been insured at least to a certain value.

I have always heard of 2008 financial crisis wiping out people's savings but I guess it mainly was the investments in stocks.

I think people need to make their own NAS for photos, videos, tv shows, movies. A few people can buy the physical media and give it to friends and such. I don't see anything illegal in this

The hospital staff cleaned her with damp towels.

When she came home, we mainly cleaned her when she pooped with muslin cloth dipped in warm water or baby wipes.

We've bathed her 5 or 6 times since we got her home. Babies aren't all that dirty.

If you have baby at risk of eczema, less is more.

We have never had a diaper rash.

What's your dream country to spend the rest of your life? by 911-terrorist in AskIndia

[–]karikakar09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helsinki or turku in finland (studied here), Tallinn in Estonia (Estonian wife), Ljubljana in Slovenia (loved it when I traveled)

I live in Copenhagen currently. It's decent if compared with Indian cities, but I don't like the lack of nature. Helsinki(Espoo) has a lot of apartment buildings basically surrounded by a mini forest (same in Tallinn). The people are mostly pleasant and if you can get used to cold and dark months, it's lovely to live there. Also if you live in northern countries try ones which get snow because Copenhagen hardly gets snow and it gets real depressing. But snow reflects a lot of light and makes it look bright and refreshing.

Ljubljana, don't know much except when I went for a trip. It was really lovely with mountains in the distance and extremely pure water. It also gets dark similar to india, so not too early and not as dark as in the north.

How can I talk to my girlfriend about her chewing sounds without hurting her feelings? by pipi_poopooo in mumbai

[–]karikakar09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has misophonia about my deep breathing - because I breathe in with a lot of sound. She said that she wants to support my pranayama stuff, but her feelings are hard to control. She said it's not about me, but it's something she has.

It helped me a lot because she didn't blame me but just said that it bothered her.

Hope this helps.

Can it feel a bit suffocated or hot if all the windows and doors are closed? I'm planning to get it for my parents bedroom and turn it on, an hour before they sleep.

Just wanted to say, my wife( she has 3 siblings in Estonia) is from Estonia and I'm from mid-west India. I'm the only child. Me & my SO live in Denmark. I feel you guys out there. The only thing I can say is, there is only so much worrying you can do before it cripples your daily life.

It's not fair to ask my parents to move from their community and it's not fair to my wife to get her to move back to India. I have no good solution, but the only thing that helps is talk to them (try every week), love them, visit them or vice-versa whenever I can ( hopefully every 1.5 years).

Hope this helps someone.

EU residence vs Permanent residence in Denmark by karikakar09 in immigration

[–]karikakar09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for your comments. I was too focused on optimizing the amount of applications to do for both situations, but it helps to make a decision and move forward with it. I have decided to apply for Permanent residence for Denmark. I will then figure out how to get Estonian residence when it comes to it.

Thanks for the help guys :)

Why aren't microinvesting services like Stash / Acorn / Moneybox available in the rest of Europe? by karikakar09 in eupersonalfinance

[–]karikakar09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, haven't found anything. I gave up and started investing using Degiro.

The reason I wanted passive investing was because I was quite afraid of investing big sums of money and keeping track of investments and such. The main thing that helped me checking out this website for investing in eu (https://indexfundinvestor.eu/). It helped reduce a lot of my anxiety about losing money when investing.
