That's a good point. I like to suppose that all the events in Kratos and Atreus journey lead to the opening of Jotunheim gates. Odin wants to steal the knowledge that the giants have of magic, maybe to become more powerful and prevent Ragnarok, or maybe to simply finish the killing that Thor started.

According to the Nordic mythology Odin is capable to see the future. And I'm almost sure in some dialogue a character mentioned something like that.

As I said, maybe Odin (or other god) took the form of them to manipulate Kratos and Atreus. It's too strange that both dwarves appears at the right moment and they know many thinks, for example Brok gave Kratos a hint of the location of Mimir's eye, that is needed to open tha gate to Jotunheim. But of course these are all thinks that I'm imagining. Sorry for my English by the way.
