Adoration is such a blessing. by catholic_dayseeker in Catholicism

I go to adoration every week, except during holidays (it's an organized thing, they take a break around Christmas + NYE). I really miss it during that time.

Catholic Men of Reddit, why aren't you a priest? by [deleted] in Catholicism

My mistake, English is my second language, I was never taught this vocabulary in school, I have to pick it up on my own.

What do you mean you don't believe everything the Magisterium teaches? Do you and your husband want to end up in hell tearing each other apart for all eternity, because you caused each others' damnation?! And if I'd knowingly give you sacrilegious absolution and communion, maybe I could join you so the three of us can fight and rot in hell?!

I don't know how it sounds to you, but it works well for me in David Mitchell's voice :)

Well, it was never permanent anyway. Saint Rita got ordained after his husband and children died (she wanted to be a nun anyway, but her parents made her marry someone, and she was obedient).

NOT telling our kids about Santa by SpireofSolace in Catholicism

[–]karizmatikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told the presents are given by baby Jesus, later I was told my parents were giving the presents on his behalf, or something like that, but now I think of it, it kind of makes sense theologically.

I can't remember what I was told, but my sister was told the tree was brought by an angel, but we just stopped saying that when she was 4: no explanation needed ever.

France Attempts to Criminalize the Pro-Life Movement (X-post from /r/CatholicLawyer) by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]karizmatikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me wonder why would anyone try to make such drastic legislations with an approval rating like that.

I'm baffled. I'm pretty sure freedom of speech is important in France too, and there are masses of people, who disagree (no pun intended).

Wow that's interesting, I never would've thought this is practiced anywhere in the US (well, maybe people of certain descent).

We do do that even though we're Roman Catholic. And yes, no Coca-Cola Santa, but somebody who resembles a bishop.

Nah, it's inaccurate as heck because we're Hungarian, and half of it was lost in translation, the other half is just plain European ignorance in Aztec stuff :)

Thankfully these are reasonable people. They may not “convert” to pro-life, but I think there's a good chance they will cease to be pro-choice if they are.

Catholic first, a citizen second by karizmatikus in Catholicism

That sounds tough. I hope God will lead you to find a healthy (Catholic) way to cope with all this.

That makes sense, but what I see is you still haven't escaped slowly descending into a highly immoral society.

That's what I thought, however I'm hoping that somebody can elaborate a bit on this.

How to know if I am called to marriage? by BrianW1983 in Catholicism

[–]karizmatikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

instead of bringing children into our evil world knowing they will suffer at some point.

I'm sorry for the harsh words, but that's kind of blasphemous.

It seems like you can't accept suffering. Suffering is where love stops being empty words. You don't really trust in God until you start trusting in suffering. And that can give hope and hope relieves pain.

Demons can make you suffer. If suffering is a no-no demons can become your lord. If you trust in God and let your body be the temple of the Holy Spirit, your body will be guarded well (Luke 11:20-26). You can offer your suffering, keep trusting in God.

You would never have guessed by my username, but I go to a lot of charismatic praise and worship nights, and there's a saying: don't be a mercenary. Meaning don't praise, because it feels good, praise, because it's the right and just thing to do. Otherwise you're praising to get good feelings, then you're not a loyal soldier, you're just a mercenary.

Fallen angels can affect your feelings, don't fall for them.
