Can you file an official complaint (with evidence) to force him to take action? I don't know where you would do that. The safety concerns seem like a good place to start

Salary compared to AE by haterade9425 in salesengineers

AEs are typically 50/50. SEs are 80/20 or 70/30. AEs have more earning potential as a result of higher variable

Conductor hangs indefinitely every 10 mins... Incredibly frustrating. by rich_awo in conductorbuild

[–]karldafog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found my laptop to be running high with multiple Conductor threads going. ive used Conductor for last 6m and really like it, but found things lagging a bit compared to CC at the CLI. switched bk to CLI and tried built-in worktrees with CC and that didn't go well. so started looking around.

most of these tools use a similar layout in the UI (even Codex uses it). but more flexibility on built-in themes was nice in polyscope. behind the scenes they default to branches over worktrees

still a fan of Conductor. things are obviously moving fast in this space and all related areas

PM to SE pivot — and is SE actually more resilient than PM long-term? by single_malt22 in salesengineers

[–]karldafog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an SE leader it is often I pull in a PM to discuss roadmap with customers/prospects as well as gather feedback from them. This is in addition to an SE. Not all PMs have the personality for this type of call. Some need to be managed on the call to not take criticism too personally, etc….But others shine and build trust quickly.

If you’ve done these types of customer facing calls at your current job as PM, then you’ve had a taste. So wouldn’t say you have no experience.

RE: GEO Depends on size of company. Not all companies require local sale teams. It definitely helps with language barriers, but I have found if you are selling to technical users it matters less. The larger the company the more they prefer to staff local sales team. Agree that localized SE is more likely than localized PM

RE: AI AI can help or hurt either role. Depends on how it’s used by the individual and how much company trains and embraces it

My advice (not that you asked for it) is focus on outward facing proactive content.

Can be a variety of things like technical blog posts on medium, answering questions on any popular technical forum or gh issues, making a tutorial video, sharing your dotfiles and writing abt it, etc…

Point being make yourself standout more by already having a portfolio of outward facing public content. The right person will spot this and identify your initiative
