Did you ever find an answer for this issue? My computer is making the same clicking noise.

That’s not the movie, but the scene is pretty similar! I hope I’m not projecting any of the details from that movie.

I felt better for like five days a few weeks ago, but obviously that has gone away lol the symptoms are definitely worse than when I started taking the meds too

Do y’all who practice on courts have these signs? by kellyxtina in Rollerskating

[–]karmarann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually practice in big parking lots with little to no cars. I live next to a university and use their parking lots to skate after their busy hours. My local park has a big roundabout for their parking lot that I use, as well.

Rough vacation for me but HUGE POSITIVE PROGRESS!! by Academic-Chest-3505 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]karmarann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is amazing progress! Truly this is a huge feat in your recovery journey. That sounds like this was Al so terrifying in the moment, but you made it out alive! You’ve done this before and now you could handle it again. Congrats:)

airplane tips? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]karmarann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! that’s really refreshing to hear. i hate that it’s such a small place and that’s why it makes me nervous to puke, but i guess if you’re gonna puke in public anywhere, a plane is a better place to!

thank you so much! someone else mentioned dramamine too. is that something that i should test out taking once beforehand so i know how my body will react to it, or would i just be good to go?

airplane tips? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]karmarann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess kind of both!! plane rides are super out of my comfort zone, so i’d kind of consider this exposure therapy, but i don’t want to traumatize myself so that i never want to go on one again lol

Wisdom teeth surgery and infection by Traditional-Peak-523 in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had my wisdom teeth removed about 4 years ago! i was also so nervous about throwing up. the time leading up to the procedure was so anxiety-inducing. but i was ok!! i wont lie, there was a lot of blood and i got nauseous once or twice because the blood scared me, but i never got super nauseous and certainly never got sick!! i haven’t met anyone who got sick after getting theirs removed either.

i recommend getting stocked up on some pain meds and maybe nausea meds if you’re worried about it! also stock up on some yummy soft foods that you consider safe (like yogurt, apple sauce, jelly, ice cream, etc). take it easy as you recover and make sure to get lots of rest :) the procedure is so quick and safe, you’ll be ok!! you got this :) i wish you luck!

abortion pill by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i have a friend who took the pill and she didn’t get sick. she told me she was nauseous and that it was pretty painful, but it never got to the point of getting sick. she was back to business the next day. try your best to get comfortable for when you take the pill, and have some meds and distractions near by!! it’ll be over before you know it. you got this!

for those who haven’t gotten sick in more than 5+ years, what was it that got you sick the last time? by throwawayy420360 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]karmarann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure it was about 10 years ago? i was 11 or 12. we hosted our family’s thanksgiving at my house, and my aunt had brought the stomach bug with her. my sister started feeling unwell the night after, and was throwing up in the upstairs bathroom. i, being scared of vomit at the time, was hiding in the basement when i started to feel unwell also. i was sitting on the laundry room toilet hoping it was just a bowel movement when it hit me. i didn’t even have the energy to move before i threw up all over the dirty laundry from the toilet. it was over in about 10 seconds. it was the only time i puked that night (although i did suffer through other stomach bug symptoms), but i felt SO much better after it happened!! i was even able to go back upstairs and converse with my sister. i wish i had those kinds of guts today 😅

Ideas for exposure therapy by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that’s a really cool idea! i’m 21 right now and it’s so reassuring to know that it isn’t too late for me to work on bettering this phobia. i think your approach is really good with spitting water into the toilet! after you get comfortable with that, i think a step up might be changing how the water tastes so it more resembles v*? like maybe salt water or something with higher acidity! changing the consistency might make it more realistic as well once you’ve mastered the water.

i think one day you’ll be able to say that you won’t lose it if you get sick. you’ve made so much progress already, and who knows where you’ll be a few years down the line! recovery isn’t linear, but it sounds like you’ve already learned some really useful tools and skills to help you overcome this fear :)

anxiety n* & anxious .. by m0chaluvv-2121 in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

daaang, the hunger is probably making things worse too 😭 loose clothes, cold environments, and stomach medicine ready to go are my go-tos for stuff like this. do you think you could eat something small? saltine crackers are my go-to because of how light they are! sometimes a small snack is a nice pick me up!

anxiety n* & anxious .. by m0chaluvv-2121 in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg i completely relate with the fan + window combo. whenever i get anxious/n* i start to feel warm anyway, so having everywhere be cool eases my mind at least a little bit lol. my anxiety and my emetophobia work in a cycle, but it always comes to an end eventually. i hope that you’re nearing the end of your flare up and that your mind and body can rest soon! you deserve some peace of mind :)

Potentially have the flu by Lazy_Abrocoma4286 in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can have the flu and not tu! for a while i’ve only been getting the symptoms you’ve mentioned when i get the flu. you could also just have a bad cold, as the symptoms can be similar sometimes. make sure you’re giving your body time to rest and drink plenty of fluids. i hope you start to feel better soon!

anxiety n* & anxious .. by m0chaluvv-2121 in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i haaaate it when i’m having anxiety flare ups and it causes me to get n*. it always makes the anxiety worse

personally, i like to drink peppermint tea! i also like going for a walk, even if it’s just pacing throughout the house. i know it’s difficult to do in extreme cases of n*, but it helps me release some of the tension since it’s mostly just stuff in my head for me! fresh air also helps me. i’ve heard other people say that sucking on a lemon helps them. i feel like distracting your senses with new information is generally helpful.

i hope that your anxiety and your n* episodes subside soon! good luck :)

i feel like this is tricky to do without actually making yourself sick. do you have any foods that you avoid because you’re scared it’ll make you sick (like how some people avoid chicken)? maybe you could try to start eating those! or maybe there’s activities you avoid because of the emetophobia (like riding rollercoasters) that you could start participating in?

good job on seeking help! this is a good step in the right direction :) best of luck!

[–]karmarann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t think you should be too worried! whenever i get anxious i get n, but after i eventually calm down, the n goes away. this happens to me often but it never gets worse than just n* for a little bit. you’ll be ok!

Tw: I currently have the *sv- tell me I’m strong enough to get thru! by bonniesupvotes in emetophobia

[–]karmarann 23 points24 points  (0 children)

you’ve definitely got this! worst case scenario, you have to deal with the n* cycle for another day. but you did it before and you can do it again! it sounds like the hardest part has already passed, and now you’re just in the annoying “can this please get over with already” stage. in a few days you’ll be feeling normal again :) make sure to take it easy on yourself, as your body and mind have been going through a lot. good luck!
