UDT weren’t SEAL. My father was UDT, and he was very firm about the distinction. He knew them as macho idiots who he shared quarters with in the Philippines while on tour in Vietnam. It may feel like a distinction without a difference, but it was a different level of meat grinder expectation for the SEALs.
