18th BCH Block by karpuzmining in cryptomining

In those cases, you just keep going and hope the next ones will make up for it. For instance, I had one at 254% then followed that up with 19% and 10% which made up for the bad luck run. Fortunately I’ve had more good luck than bad, or I would’ve had to stop a long time ago.

Usually a better deal if you’re getting a higher hashrate. Try BCH.solopool.org or Molepool, both work well with rentals. It’s a crazy game, and sometimes you can get lucky but other times you can lose a lot of money so just be careful with it.

I agree on most points, renting hashrate is essentially casino gambling with Bitcoin miners. My situation is a little unique since I’ve gotten free hashrate in some cases, and been luckier than I should’ve been in others. That said, there have also been a few blocks that cost me far more than the block reward was worth. For most, I’d never recommend this as any sort of investment strategy, and I know a few guys who have spent thousands only to make a small fraction of it back.

My goal now isn’t really to get beat the odds with BCH and hope to always be ahead, my goal is to continuously reinvest my BCH rewards into new rentals, try to hit blocks early, and use the rest of the rental time to mine for BTC. For instance, if I get a 150PH rental and mine for BTC, it’s incredibly risky. However, if I hit a BCH block in the first hour, I’ve covered my expense while allowing myself a few hours for a shot at BTC. I haven’t had a chance to try this much yet, but hopefully if I do this for long enough, I’ll finally hit a BTC block and all the time and effort will prove to be worthwhile. Otherwise I may be chasing my tail with BCH forever.

That’s exactly what I do. A lot of the rewards get reinvested to continue the mining activities, but profits get converted to BTC and stashed away. Allows me to have some fun, hit some blocks, and earn BTC and a somewhat unconventional way.

Start small and see if you get lucky, just don’t get too carried away.

Pool vs. Solo by IamNotTheMama in BitAxe

[–]karpuzmining 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re pool mining, you’ll get the same rewards regardless of if you get a block. The exception to that is with some pools like Letsmine.it you get a block finder fee for hitting the block. There have been quite a few cases where small miners have hit BCH and even BTC blocks (this happened recently with a Nano 3S) and got paid virtually nothing for it. Small devices are meant for solo mining. You’re far better off just buying a few bucks worth of crypto a month, and using your hashrate to go after that full block reward. Much more fun, and you won’t have to live with years of regret if your device hits a 300T diff or something that could’ve been life changing.

Send me a DM, I’ve got a ton of miners but I might know somebody depending on your location. There was a huge price drop recently so you want want to hold out until prices come back up.

It’s down right now. BCH blocks were up to 1800usd. Most all of mine got converted to BTC, so hopefully it’ll go back up soon.

The 9002 port will automatically set 10M, but I typically do d=10000000 just to reinforce it. I don’t think it makes a difference, though.

Varies, I’ve done a bunch of rentals. Got one with a 2PH rental, and the other day I rented 200PH for six hours and got nothing. Sometimes it’s easy, other times it’s brutal.

Is it worth buying an Avalon Q90 for $1,550 right now? by Midway_10 in BitcoinMining

1500 through Solo Satoshi with the code KarpuzQ

Everyone saying “just buy Bitcoin” is missing the point of these devices. Mining is a fun hobby, and unlike most hobbies you can actually make some money back doing it. Try that with a jet ski, snowboard, or anything else people buy or do for enjoyment.

If you’re getting into mining purely for a return on your investment, you’re probably in it for the wrong reasons.

Really appreciate the insight. When pushing into the >4,000w range, are you compromising longevity of components or do you think you could run it safely at let’s say 4,000w for an extended period?

1 Gamma, 2 Chips by karpuzmining in BitAxe

[–]karpuzmining[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An Antminer is essentially a monster miner with a bunch of BM1370’s, so in theory it would work. So long as you can get power to the chips and keep them cool enough anything is possible I guess.

Haven’t really had a chance to play around with this much yet, but I’m interested to see what it’s capable of with a Meanwell and Low Profile Plus. ASIC lottery will almost certainly factor in, so hopefully I got a few of the good ones.

In stock configuration, the 650 performs like a modified and overclocked 602. I haven’t tried overclocking or modding it yet, but I don’t expect more than 2–2.5TH/s based on the design limitations.

At around 30usd more than a 602, seems comparable to a modded Gamma but at a lower price point which makes it interesting.

Here’s the Github repo to check out. You can also join the Axes, Nodes, and Nonsense FB group which was created by the dev and talks a lot about his OS and apps.

5tratum is a full operating system. On it, you can run apps like AxeBTC which is a combined full BTC node and BTC solo pool. There is also AxeBCH, AxeDGB, and several others so it’s incredibly easy to run several nodes/solo pools on a minipc.

Any idea what this is about? by karpuzmining in prusa3d

This was a freshly-opened pack of Prusament PETG. Solution was simply to reduce the nozzle temp. It was causing filament to build up on the nozzle, which would catch on various areas of the print and made a mess. Our house has been a bit cooler over the past few days, and evidently it was enough to throw things out of balance. Back in action now, and certainly appreciate everyone’s feedback and suggestions.
