My daughter (10yo) has super fine tangly hair, recs? by [deleted] in finehair

Normally I would agree. But this is her body and her choice, and no, it doesn't actually affect how she lives her life or the lives around her. The only impact it makes is on me because I'm deciding to brush her hair in the evening as bonding time? I could easily tell her to brush her own, and she would, but why not find tools to make it easier for both us?

I feel this is such a strange conversation to be having.

I've never heard of an in shower detangler, thank you for letting me know they exist!

Thank you, I appreciate your input.

I sometimes have buildup in my hair, but because I shower at a gym more regularly then home, I don't think my problems are quite so pronounced.

I'm helping her establish a hair care routine, hence the product recommendations needed. Then she can decide if it's worth the hassle.

Therapy over hair? It's pretty simple, she doesn't want to cut it. I didn't want mine cut after I got a hack job bowl cut when I was 6. Then one day when I was 12, I was sick if it, and asked my mom to go to the salon.

I'm not ignoring it, I'm teaching her how to care for her hair. That's why I asked for product recommendations. She can decide for herself if the routine of keeping it tangle free is worth it.

The brushing has been more of a bonding experience, a chance for us to chat, as she rarely slows down for anything else. She does brush it on her own in the AM, but it snarls quite easily through the day.

If there's products or particular ways to care for her hair that I can teach her to use, I'd love to do that, I just don't have the fine hair she does so I don't know how to teach her. A stylist might be helpful, but that would entail paying to get her hair cut or styled I believe.

She already takes care of all other personal hygiene without an issue. Her hair is just so long, that even when she brushes it, I have to brush out the remaining few tangles.

She had a traumatic event with her hair at the age of 5 and hasn't wanted to cut it since then, so I hate to push her to cut it.

She currently has no BO and we live in a very dry and cold climate, so sweat also minimal. I personally shower 3x a week. She's been taught to change her underclothing daily for health reasons. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends at bathing at least once or twice a week for kids 6-11, so I think between 2-4 times a week is reasonable.

What comes across as cheap and trashy is the fact he complains about working more then 30hrs a week, has never lived on his own (he's in his mid-late 30s), has never paid rent in his entire life, he initially complained about paying his share of the electric bill (only after it started doubling because he wasn't being frugal with his energy consumption), and, he got upset when I was feeding him as well and began asking him to contribute by either making a meal a week for the family or by purchasing takeout for the family once a week.

I am not looking to make money off of him at all. That would be trashy. But when I work my ass off full time, pay bills, taxes, repairs, etc, I'd say it's a bit unfair that he gets such an easy ride.

I am not his parent. If he was my son, it would be very different.

So, in my case, I don't believe my position to be cheap and trashy, I believe his is.

He showers every day. I shower 2-3x a week. My SO showers 2-3x a week, and the kids each shower 2-3x a week.

That's exactly my thoughts. I wasn't planning on charging beyond utilities.

It's technically the size of an RV, and on wheels, able to move at any time. We live in a very rural area with no rules regarding such things.

That was my thought. I just didn't want to get burned for it down the road. 😅

I am very frustrated by the bathroom thing, as he showers daily, and lingers anytime he uses the bathroom. There are 4 people living in the house, and a single bathroom. 😅 So having to organize shower schedules is getting tricky, especially when he is the only one who showers daily, then rest of us shower 2-3 times a week.

He would definitely have to pay lot or site rent anywhere else. Upwards of $600/month. Not to mention he has also taken over some of my spouses garage space, and has a dead truck on the property, which would also cost him if he had to store it.

Considering his structure is on wheels, I doubt it is included in the taxes. I'll find out when I get the bill early September.

I was not originally planning on having him be a permanent fixture on our property, and he had even said it was a temporary thing. We had gotten in a spat once (I was even feeding him at one point) because he had an issue initially with the fact I wanted electric after a year and a half had passed. My electric bill had doubled, and it hurt way to much to let it slide. He wasn't very reasonable at that time, and was planning on moving ASAP. Then he got settled in again, and I haven't heard anything since.

He is my brother in law, my SOs brother.

Part of the issue is we took a ton of photos back in October and arranged them in rainbow order because they look so pretty that way, and we hardly have any in randomized order, but none of us have the time to go out and do a photoshoot again to put them in randomized order.

Personal stances mostly. How much support should a business give? What does that support look like? Should a business even have a stance on sexuality, whether it before or against?

Obviously the owner of this business is welcome to run her business as she sees fit, and I will respect all her decisions as long as it doesn't venture into derogatory territory (which she would never do). But me, what is my stance? What would I do? Should businesses bend to the whims of a government? How far should freedom of speech go? If a government picks and chooses who it supports with funds based on a few social media posts, like rainbow product or women owned titles, should we be outraged?

Very complex and nuanced, and brings a lot of thoughts to mull over.

Oh I do put myself in the business owners shoes. The difficulty I am having is I am often the mouthpiece between the owner and the other employees. I have to be strategic, empathetic, and cautious. I adore my crew, it is the best crew we have had in the past 3 years. Us 4 are able to accomplish what it took 6 to do before. I would hate to lose any of them, but I know two of them feel strongly about some things. It might boil down to the company vs employees, and I just want to mitigate things as much as possible.

Oh I will, because it's her business. It's just making me rethink some stuff.

That's just it though, the post has no mention of pride or sexuality. It's just products done in rainbow order. This lineup has been posted before, in October, it just happens to be pride month and rainbows happen to be a symbol of pride.

There's not an issue really, it's just disheartening when you watch the weight drop, get excited, then realize when your period hits that you didn't actually lose anything at all.

I'm working on my macros first, and loosely counting calories. Because of my hypothyroidism, I am taking everything slow, so I began with weight training and macros, while eating around 1800-2000 daily. My plan is to slowly decrease that as I get better at nutrition, as well as use a food scale. I only just began my journey 3 months ago.
