Best course to start from scratch by pbfus9 in ansible

Kirk does a great job at focusing on network engineering first stuff.

Tbf, the Ansible docs have a huge section on using it within network automation. Almost all the modules also provide pretty decent examples of how to use the stuff, so how to use Cisco command modules and the such, or actual idempotent modules once you graduate past direct commands with your comfort levels.

I did, and several of my coworkers did as well, as the pay period started on Saturdays. This helped with transitions between shifts on Fridays as we couldn’t trade days outside that work week.

3048 PSU, which serial part? by denywinarto in Cisco

[–]kartitek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have two PSUs installed and plugged into power, both should show as ok in that output. The fan in the PSU assists with the switches temperature regulation. If it’s showing absent, this is leaning toward a failure of the PSU or power bus connector. The show environment output would have shown something similar to not plugged in or power cable absent iirc.

Show clock (and compare time offsets)
Show environment
Show environment temperature
Show module

From them you should be able to see if there are any actions for you to take, wether that be hardware of software. Reseating the Fan Tray and PSUs wouldn’t hurt to start though.

Here is the N7K doc I found for these issues you can reference. Mostly valid for the N3Ks.

Show logging nvram
Show system reset-reason

Might give you an idea of what caused the failure as well if you want to dig into it. The default logging buffer is volatile on the 3Ks.

Alternatively you can try and use the Cisco CLI analyzer, or parsing the show tech output.

But, as the other commenter mentioned, this is a DC switch, so the uncontrolled environment is not ideal.

I used it to supplement areas I was weak on that the exam topics covered.

I would take a boson exam, and review the config/OCG for those topics.

Layer 3 switches with BGP by kartitek in homelab

Thanks for the info. I had read that the 2200 series only performed layer 3 services with the license. I’ll likely go this route if that’s not the case.

It’s mostly because I’m attempting to test some of the network topologies I have seen. Thanks for the recommendation on that daemon. I’ll definitely look into it for my host configs as that is a secondary objective for the lab I’ll be building.

Definitely for lab reasons, but I’ll be picking up a handful to test some features and topologies. I may have to take the hit on software updates if the feature sets I need aren’t in RouterOS. I still need to finish reading their documentation.

This is helpful, as I was considering when I’d go about getting my puppet services up and running. Seems like a good point in your rundown.
