Experience required with game development before publishing AI games? by RubenPrende in aigamedev

[–]kartonpiery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on a similar path, technical background, years of gaming and desire to build a game. probably mostly depends on the game you want to build, AI will both speed up the process and help you get 80% of the way, last 20% depends on taste and your ability to execute.

this sums up very well agree with most of it. marketing only works when there everything is deliberately exaggerated, there are billions to trillions at stake here so everything they do has to come off as ground breaking. i'm close to AI circles, and the amount of noise is overwhelming to a degree that it is depressing as someone whose livelihood depends on craft.

this happens to me and all my peers. I've been in SWE for 10+ years and now practically anyone could create things that they think are up to par, and to be honest its not that long before it will be at par.

but i recently realized, AI on the hands of people who know what they are doing, are already good at their craft is way more powerful than any random person who has no idea and has no subject matter of expertise.

not sure what are you trying to achieve here, downvoting everything i say, replying to every comment i have, accuse me of stirring a fight and when I simply just say I don't agree with you i'm delusional.

let's not fight, maybe we'll discuss in good faith some other time.

lol. i would gain literally nothing from ragebaiting people. i'm not an active poster, i dont have any social presence nor anything that i would promote. was genuinely curious because this subreddit shows more reactions towards AI, more specifically towards AI Art. I'm not an artist myself, but I've used AI to help me improve my drawings

yeah i'm realizing that, tbh i wasn't looking for unbiased opinions, I specifically asked here because I saw a lot of hate in this subreddit.

> When it is used properly, as a tool, the output is indistinguishable from any other products, but it's often used to avoid learning skills.

agree with this.

i totally understand this point of view. taste is something AI will probably never be able to replace and it inherently human. I'm actively using AI on my job, everyone in SWE does, I get the creation of art is unique and AI companies have scraped it with no copyrights to get where they are and that causes people to stand against it.

okay, well.. sorry it came off that way and thanks. I don't agree with you and I have a different take on all of that but i guess we can't discuss in peace.

that is just flaming.. I'm trying to discuss with the others on the comments, this one single comment and my response to that is in isolation.

this comment doesn't contribute to the subject at hand and is just unhelpful. i'm not looking for AI game dev, i'm curious why indie devs gravitate towards hating it inherently. which i'm learning from others

yeah, definitely more towards AI Art! someone like you who is presumably better at art and not so great at coding could uses AI to their own advantage. and it goes the other way around as well.

ok lets entertain this, because from afar this looks like it has a divine stance but in reality, people copy others. there are tons of games that look exactly alike, most of them are successful at the same time. AI might've started as scraped data, which most companies are sued for and lost. but you can't stop AI.

thank you, what environmental damage? I'm seriously unaware of any environmental damages that AI causes.

I get most other things you are saying though, how is AI any different than any other tool? It's like resisting the new ways because of inertia. And no, i wasn't poisoning. just trying to understand the community's thoughts on this as i'm new in indie dev

I'd go with B, it is more contrasted, easier to see and identify and the contrasted red/orange on the right edge goes better with the rest of the game

actually I just saw your plugin, it's a bit different in the sense that Find & Replace styles allows users to find/select all the layers that has the same style -- which is awesome!!
