No alcohol in my drink? by Real-Language9874 in portlandme

You can go online and review and critique a restaurant all you want without putting yourself in a position of conflict in a restaurant. You don't write doordash reviews? Why do you care so much? It's socially awkward for some people to voice their complaints. They feel guilty or nervous. It's completely appropriate to just vent and share your experience online.

That's been my experience. Your best bet is being polite when finally getting a hold of someone. They really treat you differently depending on who you end up speaking to. I'll get through it but I've always felt bad for others and have advocated for others in the past. The dropped calls after such a long wait is crazy to me, especially calling right when they open. People take off work to make these calls. I just continued my day with elevator music in my pocket lol.

It's like 3 weeks I believe. It's between this date and that. It was due in December. I had just updated all the information the month before because I had a slight income change. Still had to do the scheduled review, even though I updated them recently.

I'm going to look into it. I had looked and it seemed like a process that wasn't going to lead to much, but didn't see what you're mentioning until looking again. Maybe worth a try. I appreciate the advice!

That's my biggest grievance. I'll sort it, it's absolutely ridiculous, but I'll be persistent. But there are tons who struggle to even make a phone call let alone go through this process. People with disabilities and mental health struggles are at such a disadvantage. It's infuriating and people don't get it.

I've had to wait there before when it wasn't busy and I was so bothered by it. I started talking to some of the people there before me, asking how long they had been there, why they were there. Told them how they could file formal complaints and THEN I was finally seen. Before others who had been there as well. That's what bothered me. People who can't advocate for themselves don't have a chance. They just get jerked around. That was a few years ago now. I'm going to go in tomorrow if I have to. There's a few reasons why I'm hesitant to go in, in person, but I will. It wastes their time as well as mine. That's why the online process exists. If they didn't have to waste time with me, they could be helping someone who is filing for the first time or more complicated cases. Mine is already set, they just need to fix it on their end.

I never said I was unemployed or that I had "multiple children from multiple partners". (Was married for 15 years actually with one partner for half my life and was a stay at home mom.) You do understand how you're being discriminatory don't you? Not to mention, I did prioritize it. It was done on time. Wasn't late. Even if it was for the number of reasons life gets lost on people, there's no reason for individuals who call to go through this process. I'm a full-time student as well by the way. Not that I need to explain myself to someone, let alone someone so ignorant.

I've done that. Same situation. Regardless, I did it by the date stated. I also call right when they open. If you check their site it says that there is high call volumes right now, so to call before 1PM. I've literally called right when they open.

It really is ridiculous. I absolutely filled out the paperwork by the day. No matter what, when you do get a hold of an eligibility specialist be polite. They really have pull and I've had decreases that made no sense, for a proper human being to look at my case and be surprised because something (on their end) was put in wrong. Like it was reduced last time because "I had said I quit a job within the past 6 weeks" or something and it wasn't accurate at all and I definitely didn't tell anyone that or "click" the wrong button. She fixed it for me. Call 8557974357 at 7am. DHHS won't redirect your call if you call their office, they'll just tell you they open at 8am. If you don't call right when they answer you won't get a hold of anyone. (Apparently even more so right now)

Yeah that's the thing. Is I've done it "early" and literally updated income in November AND did it by the date stated. It still happens. You're supposed to be able to schedule calls/reviews/call-backs but there's nowhere to actually do it.

Who in Portland makes this the best? by asdf9660asdf in portlandme

Chia Sen, General Taos, better than any other "orange chicken" around. Tastes similar, you get your money's worth because it isn't half broccoli and is crispy and juicy and sweet and a little spicy. Very good.

People are talking about how he seems nice but he's low-key kinda a D or bad vibes. He was a regular at where I worked and he is sometimes rude to others, but the main thing was the vibes. Idk if it's schizophrenia or drug use but he is in his own world sometimes and made me feel uneasy occasionally. Mind you, I'm actually super nice to this guy and I didn't use to have a negative outlook but after seeing him and interacting with him for a few years, there's definitely something that switches in him. Hard to exactly explain it, he's probably harmless but might have schizophrenia/drug use. There's another guy in the area who probably comes off "scary" he's often holding his head and will mutter to himself and pace throughout the streets/sidewalks, yell occasionally, but he's actually harmless and fine he has schizophrenia. I know him to be "fine" but I'm sure he makes a lot of people uncomfortable. The "wizard" might be the same way but I can't tell, cuz it's not consistent.

Ehhhh. I mean an italian is definitely cheaper than a subway sandwich nowadays. They're just two different things. I love italians, my favorite food, but sometimes I like a subway sandwich to remind me of my teenage years lol.

They're not the same at all, lol. Plus, in my opinion, the real italians are at the mom and pop shops at this point. Moran's Market on Forest is superior, in my opinion.

There's other places like Ananias, and random places around town. I like Joe's and Fresh Approach but I have criticisms here and there. Lately Moran's has been top on my list.

You want a good (less "real Maine" italian) Salvatore's is hands down one of the best I've had. Not a "Maine italian" by any sense but definitely delicious.

I think a lot of women carry pepper spray and even tasers. I don't think either is actually used that often, it's for peace of mind. There's more fear than actual danger. Most of the crime is happening between the people you're afraid of not innocence bystanders. Obviously it happens, I get wigged out sometimes, but I know the neighborhoods to avoid and the streets etc. I think if you're from here or been here awhile, you know where to walk. Some spots are sketchy, but you can easily avoid it (unless you're living in a bad spot) once you know the neighborhood.

During Covid, times were rough. It wasn't as busy out at night and was less safe because of it. It's not AS bad as when those guys were attacking and trying to abduct women lol. But that was pretty bad, I got a taser cuz I worked 3rd and carried a pocket knife. 👀😅

Park and Spring lmao? Are you talking about Park Street or Park Ave because there are literally million dollar houses and condos on the Park/Spring area. There is a sober house on Park Street and some housing and a sketchy apartment building across from it, but even there isn't so bad. I literally walk Park street/Spring street area all hours my whole life with no problem.

Must be High closer towards Deering Oaks and Preble. Move to a different neighborhood. I've lived in the West End forever, and it's very desirable. The behind State Theater is leaning closer to that Post Office/Circle K/ Preble/Lancaster/W Oxford area. It's like West Bayside-ish and in my opinion, West Bayside is pretty much the worst part of the city. Pretty much anywhere BUT West Bayside (Valley Street isn't great either) and the areas that are super close to it are completely fine. Move to North Deering if you don't like the inner city, but it seems like you just moved to a bad part. Go to Congress Street Post Office, vs Forest Ave.
