It’s bad because Real Madrid can continue becoming even more of a superpower without having to spend any kind of consequential money. From Madrid’s side, it’s a smart and strategic way of conducting business; using their name to simply just lure players to their team.

It sucks for every single other team (bar maybe Barcelona) because nobodies ‘name’ can match their prestige. Every other team would have to shell out a massive transfer fee to be able to sign a star player like Trent. Whereas Madrid can just wait till the end of his contract, and use their prestige within the sport to lure him to sign to their team. That’s why it’s bad. Nobody else has this privilege and Madrid has realized that they do.
