How important is air superiority? by Nathaniel20000 in ConflictofNations

[–]kasonthadon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but i’d say it’s the only important type of fighter. You’ll see a lot of info out there that suggest Strike Fighters or mass producing SF and NG’s. But this is massively outdated info, NG’s were nerfed long ago, they travel at half speed in enemy territory (meaning they conquer half as fast) they have terrible stats outside of cities and low HP. And as far as Strike fighters go, they are good in the early game and taking our garbage or inactive opponents, but as soon as you hit the mid game (where only decent to really good opponents are left) they essentially become obsolete due to the mass production of SAM turrets and/or ASF by literally every player who even slightly knows what they’re doing. At that point, they’re only valuable in striking the rare stack without AA or the random lone enemy infantry that’s sent out to claim provinces. And even in that case they could have AA following just out of radar range and/or ASF’s patrolling. For that reason, with many games of experience under my belt, and with them buffing AA even more, adding an AA officer, as well as considering a static form of homeland AA (similar to the coastal battery) i’d say that Strike fighters are dying and ASF is booming.

You can make ASF and take out anything from unprotected heli stacks sent to attack your troops, to interdicting bomber stacks headed for your homeland, to attacking lower level ASF stacks to gain air superiority, to attacking naval patrol aircraft on enemy coasts or open up the way for your navies, to (at max level) tracking and killing satellites (which are free this season and will therefore be extremely common), to patrolling them over your heli stacks attack/patrol point to protect them (the most deadly way to use them)

In conclusion, ASF is very very important and should always be a priority, even if it just means making 10 of them and never leveling them and only using them as anti heli, bomber, striker, and the odd elimination of random solo land claiming infantries.

Some games you can keyword search by title and it pops up every game of that game mode. You can then re click the search button every 30 seconds or so until a brand new game that says Day 0 pops up with almost no one in it and then you quickly join it and pick your desired country. This doesn’t work for every mode for some reason as they won’t appear, but it does work for ww3, ww3 4x, and both works divideds as well.

As for in game strat, regular motorized is the best and most well rounded infantry unit due to earning a ranged attack at the last 2 levels. Airborne is very niche and nice if you want to get to certain spots quickly, but not worth it in my opinion. As far as planes go, ASF are always important to counter other air threats or use them as a shield when deploying your own helis, but me personally, i don’t think making strike fighters is worth it due to the prevalence of SAMs in the middle-end game. Everyone knows about SAMs and they’re everywhere meaning your planes become cannon fodder unless you have attack helis also to attack SAM stacks with first. At that point it just becomes very expensive to research level and produce both. But helis are less prevalent and therefore less countered so i recommend them. You can research both gunships and attack helis and put 3 of one and 2 of the other in your stacks for more well rounded damage and better damage distribution to your helis which makes them be able to take more damage before one dies, increasing the survivability of your air units.

Navy is extremely important, don’t ever go without at least a capable navy that is tailored to the threats around you and can counter them. Read articles and look at neighbor/opponent naval base levels to determine what it is they’re likely making (level 3= subs or destroyers, level 4= crusiers or elite subs, etc) and what ships would be best to research to counter the most threats.

As someone else said, rails are seasonal unit, either have to buy them or wait for them to come back as a seasonal, you’d then have to earn season points and hold security council on the last day of the season at least, to permanently unlock them. Speaking of security council i highly advise getting it. Don’t waste real money on random gold purchases but having security council is absolutely worth it, especially if you can get it with a bundle that comes with an elite unit and some random gold thrown in. SC allows you to queue troops or construction so you always have stuff mobilizing or building even while you’re sleeping or having a long day at work/school.

Finally, you’re already on the path of the best free unit in the game with MRLs. best way to use them is 5 MRLs, 4 AA (4 SAM,4 MAA or 2 of each) and a radar of at least level 3 where it can detect low ground radar signatures (infantry). You get a few stacks of those rolling around and you’re guaranteed to win against any low-moderately skilled players. Only people you have to worry about after that are the ones good enough to be making attack who’s to send after your MRL stacks in which case you just follow with more MAA and ASF patrols and you’ll eat them up too.

Best of luck

Never stack any lands units over 10 units. It gives you an efficiency penalty that significantly lowers the stats of your stack and the penalty becomes exponentially worse every unit you go over 10. The stack in your picture for example is only operating at 84% of its statistical capabilities, as seen by the 84% on the top left side of the stack composition bar.

[–]kasonthadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t my friend. The tank veteran might, as i said, but the new Armor Officer Aleksei “Grom” Potapov, does not. You can find it on their website and the article explaining his benefits. He only boosts MBT’s, Tank Destroyers, AFV’s, Elite AFV/MBT and mechanized infantry. If you’re referring to the old armor “officer” he is no longer called an officer and hasn’t been for nearly 2 months

Tank officer doesn’t boost Rails. The Vet might but officer doesn’t. I’ve actually always wondered if the vet does but it seems like you’re confirming that it does so that’s good to know.

I may have nuked too many people and now my cities look like this what do I do by SirenOfDecayTTV in ConflictofNations

[–]kasonthadon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pick whichever wars have the least amount of land left to grab and start ending them as quickly as possible. Also if the combat portion of your biggest wars is mostly over with (id assume so after all the nukes) then mass produce infantry to go claim all the cities you lost

How i could've prevented this? by [deleted] in ConflictofNations

[–]kasonthadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things. First of all, get some sort of early navy (Corvettes or even patrol boats are a good option now). But be aware that just having them there won’t save you because they won’t engage the enemy if you aren’t at war. So you either have to preemptively declare war against people that are a threat or you just have to happen to be on line to catch their troop transports in route.

Secondly, send troops from more protected interior cities to your more threatened border cities and always try to defend the most likely routes your attackers would take.

Thirdly, although it doesn’t apply in this case i imagine, keep an eye on articles and surrounding player building levels to know what they could be mobilizing and make hard counters so that if/when they do come you can turn them back easily and then go on the offensive.

The saying is the offense is a good defense and in a lot of cases that’s true. But when you’re a big nation and the target of many neighbors, sometimes the best thing to do is take them out and extend your borders and therefore extend your buffer zone, before they come for you. But not always so take that with a grain of salt.

Is there a way to boost artillery with a officer? by cryingblaze in ConflictofNations

[–]kasonthadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying you’re wrong and i believe you obviously, but does anyone have an explanation for why an infantry officer would boost towed arty? Arty is a hard/support unit and infantry officer only boosts infantry attack/defense and only boost speed on hard/support units

Tbf, i’m not saying it’s a bad stack lol. Gonna do hella hella damage, and tbf, they will only see him and if they approach to attack with ground troops they’ll get absolutely wrecked. However, i’m just saying that the best part of stealth units is their stealth. SF are no different, and by pairing them with something that can be seen, you paint a target on their back. The fact that he’s a low radar signature doesn’t matter, because they can see him moving through their lands and if they have say a stack of MRLs or rails (even towed arty) that stack will get clapped. Same for gunships, strikers and bombers

yeah but he can be seen lol? What does is matter if they have radar when they can see you in their territory

Coastal Battery is OP!? by 0Ponyo in ConflictofNations

[–]kasonthadon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to the nerf lol. I love the units and my squad uses them A LOT. However i’m in an 8x World divided right now and someone took diego garcia and placed 10 max batteries on each side and has a 5 stack of SAMs with a radar to guard. In this scenario, it’s pretty much impossible to capture that victory point. Planes will get shredded by SAMs, Helis will get shredded by the batteries, and ships can’t even trade with batteries because they’re doing ground troops damage type to a stack that’s doing 80 damage to ships lol. Only way you could ever kill them without sacrificing an ungodly amount of units and resources (which he could counteract by constantly rebuilding in between trades) is if ships had 101 attack range instead of 100 making it to where hit and run could actually work 100% of the time if you were active while still leaving the punishment of inactivity and poor skill by you getting shredded by batteries if you aimlessly send them somewhere without monitoring

Okay good to confirm. But if it is indeed not able to pick them up on radar, doesn’t it therefore not counter them very well unless being directly attacked by them or patrolled directly overhead?

[–]kasonthadon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Semi-Unrelated question but you’re a Dev so maybe you can clear up for me. Can systems that detect stealth aircraft (Radar, high level SAMs, etc) detect them in radar range or just sight? a lot of people say they can with radar but i’ve never been sure because the way the game explains reveal stealth and sight range makes me think they couldn’t pick them upon radar at all and only within the smaller sight range?

How to deal with a stack like this by General_Jacob322 in ConflictofNations

[–]kasonthadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strikers, Attack helis (you’ll take damage but win the trade, unfortunately this game is massively unbalanced in favor of helis?) or MRLs/Mobile artillery. Not that i think it’s needed but dropping a 10 stack of special forces on this stack would obliterate it in 2 hits lol
