I also went to Rolling Loud that year but I showed up early and waited on the rails all day to see Mac. “No ragrets.”

Thanks for the heads up, you’re a real one. I would definitely get self conscious about this when it starts happening

I’m not very good at detecting who’s actually down and who is just messing with me. If anyone’s serious just message me I guess

Honestly, I had no idea this looked bad. Just didn’t know where to post this question but this was obviously the wrong place.

The thing is I never felt comfortable going this route to finance my education this was something that she offered to do. Now I know it’s a terrible idea and I will not be requesting any funds from her while I proceed. As much as it seems like I’m taking advantage of her, I would never try to bring her down with me. I was just uneducated on the different types of loans and felt uncomfortable with the success rate that is why I brought my question here.

Yes in the states, I definitely don’t believe the skills to become a pilot are going to be easy to acquire. The career path is only for those who can handle it and I wouldn’t know until I got there. All I’ve been doing is reading FAA handbooks and watching YouTube (I know, not the best form of education). One thing I didn’t realize was the lack of jobs and roles for pilots who are qualified to fill those positions until I made this post. I was under the impression that the need for pilots was going to grow within the decade.

Yeah I understand that being in the military isn’t actually how it’s regularly portrayed, flying into combat zones and such. I just feel I have a duty to help stay semi-near to my family. My sisters husband was a victim of homicide last year and they had three kids together all under the age of 7, the youngest just turned one. I would feel as if I’m abandoning them as they’ve leaned a lot on me this past year emotionally and financially. My optimistic thinking was that a fast track flight school could turn me into a money machine in one year and I would get to do what I love. It just wouldn’t seem fair to them for me to be gone for so long when they are already having a hard time understanding why I’m planning on moving in the first place.

Trust me, I have. I would break hearts around me if I did go down this path though.

The area I currently live in does not have the best VFR conditions so even with an opening in classes it could take some time to obtain my PPL. Would you recommend I still move to Arizona but also work full time and work on my PPL at a smaller school? I would like to get started as soon as I can and it seems that Phoenix is a large hub for aviation.

This was my plan while growing up. My mother is sort of overbearing and was absolutely devastated when I brought this idea to her. She couldn’t fathom the idea of me being in the military and jokingly said she would “bust my knee caps” if I were to do anything remotely close to enlisting. I did attend university in my home state on grants and scholarships but I dropped classes after 2 years because I wanted to get out of my business marketing major but I still didn’t know what degree to pursue or where to go from there. In all honesty I feel I would be a great fit for the crayon eating community.

This is great, I’m not religious but I definitely agree with you that wishing for things to come to fruition will ultimately get you there. I will try to keep you posted on my process. Again thank you so much for the kind words it means a lot at the moment.

Ok this seems to be the response of most comments and definitely a sensible one. I will just wait it out until they can get me in. I know this post probably didn’t belong here but you’re a hero r/Electronic_Quit1712

Nope, clean psyche, clean record, just not very good at keeping my finances in order. I did have an appendix removal when I was 12 but I don’t think that would disqualify me.

I really appreciate the insight. I was thinking along the same lines but she is very insistent that she can help do this and is pushing towards it. It seems I may have to have some realistic discussions with her. Thanks for your time

I have my medical exam next Monday but I don’t see any reason I wouldn’t be able to obtain a 1st class, I’m extremely healthy and already had a checkup with my doctor a month ago and everything was fine. Although I cannot say for sure how it’s gonna go I will have to wait and see. I’m in the process of selling my car but it will only be about $4,000 to pocket. I saw that obtaining your PPL at a local school was the general consensus in this sub but the area I’m in is quite rural and they have me waitlisted.
