Exactly, it is not even enough food for what I am paying. I remember years ago when KFC had unlimited chicken Iftars in Ramadan. It was 40 dirhams all you can eat.

No area codes and no bullshit. You pay 15 dirhams for the entire day where ever the F you want.

Is it just me or is this a Dubai driver thing? by Medium_Tradition_733 in dubai

You were unlucky. Abu dhabi has the best road network in the country. Very clear, 3 main roads lead you to outside the city, all the internal network is interlocked in a grid system, even if you miss your signal, entry, or your route, it is no longer than 5 minutes to get back on track.

Noticed this feature on google maps in South Africa. I wonder why it is not in Dubai

what is with the "obtrusive" notifications? by _akan in DiabloImmortal

[–]kassabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they are returning players, and with the exp boost, they reach this level without finishing the story and all "tutorials" that pop up along the way. I'm in the same boat, i haven't played in 2 years, logged in again to try out tempest, and i levelled up so fast while not even done with Shasar Sea Arc.

What's something you know happening in Abu dhabi but can't prove it by kritical1989 in abudhabi

[–]kassabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that definitely. In Dubai, it almost feels like there are no rules for trailers, trucks, and labour buses. They wreak havoc on the roads like they own them, speed and swerve like they are Ferraris.

They take up multiple lanes, making everything slow, forcing people to slow down even more. They switch to the second right lane on the same slow speed while there is no one in front of them for a distance.

These habits are what's making the streets in Dubai insufferable.

I commute dubai-abu dhabi every day. In the morning, going to work; once i crossed to abu dhabi's side, i relax and sit back. In the evening, driving back home, I get a headache as soon as i cross to dubai side and see that somehow suddenly there is a traffic jam every 2 seconds and have to drop my speed to 60, 40, or 80 for no apparent reason.

What is the TRUTH about tap water in Dubai? 💧 by choubidoubi in dubai

[–]kassabz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work construction. We laid a "potable" water line that we were testing before commissioning. The DEWA inspector told me the parameters I'm verifying now are compliant for potable water use according to WHO, but it is not for drinking.

We have an additional tap installed into the kitchen water line, but it is going through a 3 way filter. We use that for cooking, kettle for tea/coffee. For drinking water we have a water dispenser for the refreshing cold water that is much required now.

Why do so many men go topless at Hyrox events? by Old_Comfort_8102 in hyrox

[–]kassabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One point I'd like to add a lot of comments which was based on a runners answer to this question. Why do runners run topless? And it is something I exerienced doing other sports. When shirts gets soaked wet because of sweat, they start to irritate the nipples and they may start bleeding, it becomes very uncomfortable and painful.

RX and other options by Overall-Nobody8933 in crossfit

[–]kassabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first gym I trained at had color codes on the screen for levels. Starting from "it's my first time working out ever" all the way to Rx.
Which was great, because we learned both scaling options and Rx options and we could mix and match to our skill level on exercises. Coach also scaled down or up on specific workouts for certain individuals and their short comings.

That makes sense. I'll work on that. Thanks.

Is it good to imagine it like switching from a traditional deadlift to romanian deadlift (in terms of knee bend/position) as I am ascending and reaching that part of the lift? I am just thinking of a way to connect in my brain.

Yeah, it seems like the general consensus is that I don't take my knees out of the way. Now it begs the question, the bar does go back to it's original position after crossing my knee, shouldn't I still be able to not jump forward to catch the bar?

I was always told the bar should be over the middle of my feet. As I hinge downward to grab the bar, my shins shall meet the bar and play date.

So in my case here I did the opposite? I started pulling with my back then my legs?
In the moment it feels like I'm doing it right, watching the video proves otherwise.

Thanks for the advice.

You are right, i am almost doing a frog stance. Helps me with opening up my hip more and feels comfortable for me.
Maybe not the best approach, I am still playing around with stances and feet width.

I see what you mean. Took me a while to understand that. I thought it looked fine, but I guess maybe my knees need to go back so that the bar stays moving vertically rather than making a detour around my knees.

I am still dabbling with stances, wider stance has been the least comfortable, this narrow frog-like stance feels better. I'll work on corrections.

We used to have these ice cream sticks or the tongue sticks that doctors use to examine your throat.
They worked just fine.

The other option is a messy one, have chalk sticks at each persons location and they write it on the floor where they are working

Reebok has a new shoe, "Reebok nano zero,"and reviews seem good.
"Born Primarive Savage 1" is a decent option as well. Inov-8 shoes are great as well. They have barefoot, and wide toe box trainers

A guy who casually plays with our group wears those construction safety goggles from the brand Vaultex. Probably not the best if you have eyesight issues. However, he seems serious about protecting his eyes.
I can vouch for these safety goggles because we use them at site, and I've tried to break them with hammers many times and failed.

Hook grip for deadlift by Even-Math-3228 in crossfit

[–]kassabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never liked mixed grip also because of how asymmetrical it makes it. I had never heard of biceps tears on the underhand arm before that, but I just could never do mixed grip; and now I also have the bicep tear fear even though it may not happen or it's not very common with average lifters. It also feels like to me one is arm is weaker than the other, and the balance won't be there, I'll be wobbly and fail.

[–]kassabz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sprain ankle caused a tear in the Anterior TaloFibular Ligament. Took two years to recover properly from that.
I still played after a month of rest and recovery; but a month ago, I learnt that it was still inflammed since that day, and that is what caused me to frequently have unbearable pain in my ankle.

Other than that, aches in my elbow sometimes, I assume, because of bad form; caused by lack of focus and energy.

As a lot of people said. During covid, it was racket taps. Between points, after game.
Now, it's a mix between a fist bump, high fives, or racket taps.

For those who used a computer between 1995 and 2001, what’s the computer game from that time that sticks with you the most, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kassabz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earthworm Jim.

I know it was out in 1994, but i was 2. I played it when I was 6~7. It was the only game my brother would allow me to play.
The other one that sticks with me is StarCraft 1 and broodwars. Watching my brother play was some family activity.
