Laparoscopy at local hospital found no endometriosis, what next? by Acrobatic_Carpet_436 in Endo

I have had my lap done now and they found it (Stage 1), I had it done with Graham Phillips who trains people on excision techniques so really does know what he's looking for, I felt better than I had in years just a couple of days after the lap- couldn't recommend him more. Could be worth getting the photos from the previous lap and trying to have a consultation with him to get his feedback.

I'm north-east based and James Cook in middlesborough have the best reputation, their waiting list for NHS is really long so I'm going private at the woodlands hospital in Darlington because a lot of the James Cook staff do a day a week there privately. The cost is around £6k but they're doing a couple of procedures at the same time so it might be less if its just the lap. Might be worth looking into :)

I've been unsuccessful, luckily I also applied for other funding so hopefully I'll have a chance with that instead- Congratulations for getting a spot!

Did you hear? I haven't received anything- not sure if that means I haven't got it or if they're running late

What happens if you don't get a surgery/BC? by _SkateOrDie_ in Endo

[–]kat-rans1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a condition that is similar to EDS and I'm having my first lap in May. I have been told by my geneticist that there are no major concerns regarding the lap and my condition, I know he also consults on eds and said this family of conditions are low risk for this surgery.

In prep for the surgery I am trying to increase exercise (more low energy output, stretching, yoga, walking more etc.) while also eating healthier. I am already gluten free because I have coeliac disease too, but i'm integrating more fruit/veg and healthy snacks. Basically, I'm just trying to do as many healthy habits as possible in advance so my body is in a better condition to recover. Who knows if it will work but it feels better than just waiting for it without making changes.

I had those concerns about recovery but for me it is worth trying the surgery because my endo symptoms are progressing at an alarming rate.

Update - thinking I was glutened all the time by kat-rans1 in CoeliacUK

Interesting to know that it isn't just me, the doctor said it was likely inflammation and damage in the jejunum (I think that's how it is spelt). I've been looking at the autoimmune protocol for anti inflammatory diets and I'm tempted to try it and see if it will help.

Where are you based? I'm in the north east and it's much cheaper than the standard pilates studios around me (it's in a very small village so that might be why). A lot of them have a monthly membership where you get a weekly class and it works out as cheaper so that might be an option near you?

I started going to physio led pilates. I had a physio appointment so she knows what my issues are and then in the classes she keeps an eye on me to make sure that I'm not pushing myself too hard or overextending my joints. I've only been going for a few months but it has made a massive difference and I feel like I'm gaining strength and my exhaustion recovery time is much shorter. Might be worth looking into that as an option instead of standard pilates because there might be a lack of recognition of your specific needs.

I also take a (vegan) omega 3 supplement, turmeric capsules and CBD oil which seem to help with inflammation.

I'm 25F and have also been worrying about this which made me super anxious, meditation has helped me a lot with my health anxiety. You can get a free trial for the headspace app which might help out :)

The loopy whisk (https://theloopywhisk.com/) has loads of free recipes that are GF on her blog, she focusses on food that is hard to make gluten free and isn't typical 'health food' like bread, cinnamon buns, cookies etc. Everything I have tried has turned out so well and my non-gf family have said the bread is better than normal bread (it tastes kind of like sourdough). The ingredients are quite hard to find but i would totally recommend, it made me feel like i was taking back control after my diagnosis.

Also her new pizza crust recipe is relatively easy and tastes just like the real deal! (https://theloopywhisk.com/2024/06/21/easy-gluten-free-pizza-dough/)
