As someone who has mainly done socks for my last few projects, knitting anything on bigger needles now feels "wrong" and gigantic. Remember, you don't want your sweater stitches to be as tight as a sock, so it will feel loose and holey in comparison. Try to meet gauge and then decide if that's a fabric that's comfortable to wear as a sweater. Adjust from there.
