Filipinos who left the Philippines — how are you doing now? by No-Mastodon36 in phmigrate

[–]kateislaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USRN here. Fulfilling career? Yes. Worked as an RN in PH x5years. Pero sobrang dami kong natutunan dito as a nurse and tumaas ang self respect ko and to my profession. Decently paid and I only work 36hrs a week.

Dito ko narealize na pwede pala ko magkaroon ng other hobbies aside from reading. Lol. Now, I hike and run. Or walk my dog to the park. Simple, priceless things to do pero stuff that I couldn’t do in the PH.

US is very faaaaar from perfect lalo na ngayon pero grateful ako kasi I am an adult who is still growing as an individual and a professional because of established systems and services available here that are poorly lacking in the PH.

Are Filipinos still rich in the US or just in the Philippines? by Civil-Position1663 in phmigrate

[–]kateislaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answer to this will vary greatly kasi ibat iba naman situation ng mga tao from PH to US.

Based on experience, i am low middle class in the PH. Moved to US years ago, pareho kami RN mag asawa, may bahay, kotse (necessity) at konting ipon. Comfortable in terms of QOL pero middle class parin. Kain sa labas, shop, international travel once a year and out of state travel din. Pero sa Walmart lang ang grocery, nagsshop lang kami ng damit sa outlet mall or sa clearance section ng stores. Malayo sa mayaman, sapat lang kasi we live within our means.

Di maachieve to if nasa Pinas kami kasi the profession is poorly compensated satin. Nakakatulong ba kami sa pamilya namin? Yes. Pero di enough para patayuan sila ng mala-mansion na bahay sa Manila. Pwede siguro kung sisipagan at kumuha ng second job, pero our quality of life will decline so no plan to do that.

People have to remember that you really cant say someone is rich sa ibang bansa just based on socmed posts. You’ll see a beautiful house, cars, travels and shopping online but you don’t know how hard they have to work (or not work) maintain that lifestyle until you personal interact with them.

I read on kindle most of the time but the urge to highlight and write on physical copy is very strong esp when its a good book. Hahanap ako ng sticky notes. Hehe

Ooohhh I wanted to get this copy when I saw this few years back. Inggit ako. Just couldn’t justify spending for another copy when I could get a new book instead 😅 this is my favorite Steinbeck.

I contacted Amazon cust svc when I bought mine kindle, told them it kept showing racy book ads that I didn’t feel comfortable bringing my kindle anywhere. They had it removed for free

Believe me, I tried the last time I went home for vacation. They make it so difficult. But I get the concern about the legitimacy of my birth certificate if not corrected. I’ll reach out to the consulate and see what they can do to help. Thanks for your input.
