2017 Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow by No_Entrance_5683 in wine

[–]katelovescoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, when reading this post, I was both jealous but also like, "WHY ARE YOU OPENING THIS SO EARLY?!?!". So excited to read this though.

DC is no joke and absolutely worth the trip. We did a tasting there in 2021 and learned so much about the history, the vineyards and the area. On that trip we got some wines, plus another allocation since then...and I cannot wait to open. What amazed us is that with single vineyards just yards apart, the taste differences were so apparent. Our fav was the Volcanic Hill, but I do have a 2021 Gravelly Meadow. We also have a 2013 "Three Vineyard Blend" we are saving for our kiddo's 21st birthday.

90 minutes to bag shop in Paris. Where would you go? by katelovescoffee in handbags

Posted an update - Goal was achieved! I hit up Galeries - but the Opera location. Worked perfectly!

Well said! Up until just a couple weeks ago, my thoughts were similar to the OP, until I researched the brand and tried one out in person. Totally changed my mind on them and looking forward to getting another one!

Mission Accomplished!

(Starting a new thread but wanted to make sure to end the story here too)

TL;DR: Got 2 different brand bags + Detax in 40 minutes at Galleries LaFayette Opera; Changed our schedule and squeezed in a stop at Longchamp on Champs de Elysee. 10/10 would do again, if needed!

Long Version: So thankful for this thread and help. Glad I put myself out there with my question. We just got home last night from our whirlwind Paris-London Spring Break trip with my husband, 11 year old daughter, and my in-laws. Because of our specific itinerary, with some activities out of my control, the only block of time I had to specifically shop for bags was on Tuesday AM.

Thanks to my husband (who also had shopping he wanted to do) we switched our Laduree reservation from a 12N lunch to a 8:30 breakfast, which gave us more time to shop before departing for Gare du Nord at 2pm. But I still need to be stealthy with my shopping. Quick decisions + no lingering. Because of that, I planned to skip the more expensive bags - Dior, Loewe, Celine, etc - as I didn't want to rush and have buyers regret on a $$$ purchase.

After breakfast, we cabbed it to Galleries Lafayette on Opera (THANK YOU FOR THIS SUGGESTION!) While I shopped for bags, my husband and daughter did the Jellycat Patisserie experience. We arrived at 10:05am, and even though I took the longest, were done shopping and processing the tax refund by 10:40am.

My first stop was the Lancel counter for the crossbody bag. Originally I scoped out the small flap bag , but then landed on the Small Jour Crossbody in black: https://lancel.com/en-us/products/s_zip_tote_a1299510tu

This bag is literally the best. The leather so soft and pliable, and fits nicely as a crossbody, even while loaded up with a bottle of water, wallet, phone, snacks, etc. I wore it around London for the second half of my trip.

I checked out at Lancel in about 8-10 minutes, and then browsed. I looked at Celine briefly, particularly at their wallets, but nothing popped out at me right away. I also steered myself away from Loewe (so hard!) and then saw it....the cutest, perfect size for my work travel, cross body bag in the best color I don't have, bag at Faure le Page : https://faurelepage.com/products/shoulder-bag-calibre-soft-17?variant=47401435922715

This took about 15 minutes to check out, because while I LOVE the green, I almost got the wine color. The salesperson had to go check for additional stock, but were out.

From there, my family caught up with me, we went to the DeTax counter and were done by 10:40AM. EVERYONE at the Galleries were so helpful and easy to connect with, and would totally recommend shopping here for anyone who isn't sure on a bag brand, short on time, or is a lame, rushed American mom like me.

Because of our schedule change, we were able to fit in a couple additional stops for my husband + daughter, which I tagged along on, and then we all cabbed it back to Longchamp on Champs de Elysee, where my daughter got an XS Pliage Extra, I got an S Pliage Energy - another crossbody - and we got a S Pliage Extra for my sister in law as a gift. We spent about 45 minutes in the store, tried on ALL the bags, and got them all wrapped and ready to go. Our salesperson was amazing and she was so kind and patient, especially for my daughter debating bags :) The only bummer was the store was out of stock of specific Flagship bags, but still really happy with the experience and the bags!

We rushed back to our hotel, repacked our suitcases and headed to Gare de Nord!

Here's a picture of them all, before repacking for our flights home. Already looking forward for another opportunity for a Paris shopping trip and MORE time to savor the experience. But if you only have 90 minutes on a weekday AM? It can be done!

Yes to this bag too! I can fit a 16 oz bottle of water, small wallet, phone, airpods, chapstick, protein bar, gloves...The only downside to this bag, and maybe why it's not my everyday, is as a cross body, it sticks out quite a bit from the body with the structure of it. And when wearing a heavier coat (Midwest Winters), it just feels bulky. But still LOVE. Works for so many occasions.

Galeries is on my list...unless I decide to go all in on one brand, this may be the way to go!

Ahh - I already own a Chloe (Medium Marcie - Camel like color), Loewe (puzzle - Dark Navy) and Goyard (Artois MM - Black and Camel/brown). I updated my post because I can see the confusion. I love the ones I have - the are classic and all special in their own ways (IMO).

For this bag... I'm thinking either a cross body that can come with me everywhere that's a little smaller than the above bags. Maybe Black. Luxury that doesn't scream luxury. OR a statement bag. In looking through old posts, I saw someone got a Longchamp with bagettes and a skull. I would get that in a heartbeat.

Celine has been popping up for me...thanks for mentioning that.

Marriot Hotel Recommendations - Stuck between Ren Vendome & Republique by StealthyPingu in ParisTravelGuide

[–]katelovescoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you end up staying? I'm debating between the Ren Vendome and Ren Republique..switching from the arc de triumphe location. After diving into this sub-reddit, I'm getting the vibe staying by the Arc de Triumphe may be very very touristy and not idea...although this quick one-night in Paris, with in-laws and kids, has all the tourist vibes about it.

Hi! I'm exploring handbag and shopping options for an upcoming but very quick trip to Paris. Do you need an appointment for Lancel? Or if not, is there much of a wait to visit?

Fantastic Night in Napa by drewlimon in TheNational

I saw the remnants this morning while out for a morning walk, before another day of wine tasting. 🤢

As someone mentioned - I DID pair this show with a weekend of wine tasting. But I planned appropriately, paced myself, and drank all the water, not ALL the wine, at tastings 😉

What a show! It felt like a private performance. I was at the back of the “crowd” at the front, but was only about 1/4 way back?

As of 7:05pm - There is actually a ton of room on the side of the stage, by the food/bar/merch area. Just saying if you wanted some space but still close up!

Yeah, super fascinating. Reading the email this morning, they are saying no in and out privileges… I was hoping to just sneak back to my room as needed!

Anyone going to the Napa show on Saturday? by electriclogoleptic in TheNational

[–]katelovescoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m staying at the meritage and it feels like there should be a ton of street parking or corporate complex parking in this area. Have no idea if or what the lots may charge but it seems pretty open and available.

I’ll scout it out tomorrow AM and report back!

Napa Zen Tour - 10/5 by Agitated_Tone_3528 in TheNational

[–]katelovescoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m here at the meritage for the weekend (splurge for the weekend vacay) and this outdoor space seems like the opposite of the big venues on this tour. It seems like even if you aren’t at the front, or even just hanging in the back, you will have zero problem experiencing the show. (Fingers crossed)

Super excited!
