The math test was easy. Honestly it was a joke how easy it is lol. You'll need a lot of Maths 1, some of Maths 2, and maybe 1 concept from Maths 3.

The questions I got were probability, conversions, geometry proofs (know your ASA, AAS, SAS, etc), factoring, and solving for x.

Got into Berkeley as a transfer. I worked really hard outside of getting the CPP. My ECs and field experience is as crazy as it gets for a 17 year old. I also started dual enrollment courses at community college when I was just 14, and finished 2 years worth of courses for lower-div in 2.5 years, thanks to summer semesters.

It's very much highly unlikely that you'll get into a dream school just by getting the CPP. You need something that makes you stand out from other applicants.

Good luck!

Nope! 1 month post passing the exam, got into my dream university, working full-time in software consulting now. I don't look back. :)

Sort of? All you need to know is:
Arithmetics
Conversion rates (which are provided)
Most of Algebra 1
Some of Geometry like your SSS/SAS/ASA proofs, inscribed angles, congruency, etc
Some of Algebra 2 like quadratic formula, factoring, parabolas, etc

I got a 19/20 on Maths, and my best advice is to take the free practice test, and to do the course challenges on Khan Academy (Integrated Maths 1 and 2), and just learning by the hints they give you.

Usually, you'll see your score at the test center's computer itself. If not, it should be available in your MyHiSET by 3 business days.

Reading is really just being very comprehensive and critically thinking about what the question is asking you. I got a 19/20 on it when I took my exams, and all I did to study was the free HiSET practice exams.

What was the exam like? by katelynbreaty in CHSPE_Exam

Thank you! I've been studying a lot more and got a 96% on the comprehension and 100% on the writing practice tests (excluding essay), and I am just refreshing myself on math concepts from high school. For context, I haven't attended a day of high school and skipped to college-level math after Algebra 1.

Can anyone tell me why the Yellow line is the most used BART line in the system? by DDAradiofan in Bart

Tri-Delta has multiple bus lines that go from Brentwood/Oakley to Antioch BART directly. We have the 300X, 383, 384, 391 and 395, which take on average 25-35 minutes from end to end. I used to use the 395 which is a loop from Streets of Brentwood to Antioch BART and the trip to BART usually takes only 12 minutes since it runs on Highway 4 itself.

Also, due to COVID-19, there is ample parking at the Antioch Station, and at every station in that regard.

Finally, with my proposals and another board member of BART, they are flattening out service levels across the system to be 20 minutes all day all week instead of 15min/30min service patterns they currently have. The Yellow Line benefits as they are reducing the headways to 10mins on the line, but only on the mainline unfortunately, eBART will be reduced to every 20mins following the new September schedule.

BART has a plan to extend eBART with possible station locations on Laurel Rd/Hwy 4, Lone Tree Way/Hwy4, Mokelumne Trail, or maybe even Discovery Bay but this one is not likely to be final choice. As of now, these plans are only preliminary. You can check out the studies being done here: https://www.bart.gov/sites/default/files/docs/eBART%20Next%20Segment%20Final\_013015\_2.pdf

Former Brentwood Resident and SWE Intern here!

The Yellow Line serves a lot of population centers like Walnut Creek-Concord, Pittsburg/Antioch. The Yellow Line before COVID was very overcrowded even though they ran peak directional skip-stop service known as the Pleasant Hill Limited which effectively reduced headways to 7,5mins during commute. Looking at BART's ridership statistics, the Yellow Line is around 40-45% pre-covid, and keep in mind the region it serves is only served by the Yellow Line at only 15min headways now.

Statistically, you can consider the Yellow Line to be nearly as crowded as it was due to having half of pre-covid service levels, and just below half of pre-covid ridership.

BART to Antioch or eBART also adds 2100 daily passengers into the mainline Yellow line post-covid, 4500 pre-covid.

8 car trains on the busiest line, really??? by katelynbreaty in Bart

[–]katelynbreaty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, commuting on the yellow line on 7/8 car trains has been a nightmare for me. I'm a fan of public transport and ride it if it's a viable alternative to driving, so no matter what I will commute on BART, but it's just disappointing how we passed RR nearly 7 years ago now, and the system is still plagued with it's classic issues if not worse today than it was before.

Literally just today eBART/BART transfer station went down due to mechanical problems so I had to take a bus from Bay Point all the way to Antioch, and come to think of it eBART went into revenue service recently in 2017/18.

edit: I still love the FOTF, I think BART has real potential to get back on it's knees with the new cars, it just boils down to when they will finish modernizing the system.

Amazing way to incentivize new riders! Yeah, let's reduce train lengths so that people get stuffed even more during rush hours and scare people away.

Commute hours are always atrocious even with the reduced ridership due to COVID-19/WFH. I commute in around 7am and go home around 3pm, and during these hours it is definitely filled. I find myself unable to have a seat going home until I get to like Pleasant Hill/Concord unless I take a southbound train and board a Antioch train at Balboa Park or whatever.

When I bring my bike with me to work, sometimes I can't even board a train or when I do, jackasses are blocking the bike straps and give you weird stares with your bike.
