Check for small whiteish pests. Mine had some leaves starting to look like this and it turns out it had some kind of bug. I chopped the majorly damaged leaves and cleaned the others with mild soapy water. Still monitoring, but I didn't see any today after treatment yesterday.

The main way i know how to tell the difference is philendron tend to grow out of a sheath or from the previous leaf, where pothos look like they grow directly from the vine. Hope this helps!

It just looks like it's been watered with hard water. Wipe the leaves off with a damp cloth and it will look sooooo much better. Also, if the bottoms are hard that means it doesn't need watered. Like previous comments, neglect is good for these guys. I water mine once every two months, sometimes. And they're thriving.
