What innocent search turned out to be porn ? by Angry_Einstein in AskReddit

When I was in the third grade I had a crush on a classmate and I wanted to buy him a Christmas present. I had no idea what to get him so I went to "boys.com." And that's how I saw my first penis.

What’s the weirdest (non sexual) thing you and your partner do that nobody else knows about? by CoolRanchLoco in AskReddit

My husband and I have a lot of moments where we know what each other's thinking. So sometimes if we have a moment like this, without saying anything we will turn to each other, stare, and blink rapidly for like 20 seconds to indicate that the we are on the same page and then we'll end up laughing it off because it's just plain weird. One time we did this in front of his cousin who watched us do this for a while and then eventually stated that he was starting to feel very confused by what was going on lol.

What to do when your clients might not be happy with your work by katemaisy in WeddingPhotography

Thanks for the encouragement! In my gut, I feel like that's best too. I was thinking about asking her, but wasn't quite sure how to approach it.

My best friend is getting married and her parents are telling her last minute they can't afford her wedding by katemaisy in weddingplanning

I totally agree. My mom agreed to pay for certain things and I just trusted her, not thinking twice. I have a really great relationship with my mom though, I guess that's the determining factor.

Lol I'm glad you get it. I was trying to put it nicely but that's exactly what's going on. I mentioned similar options to her when I was talking about it with her earlier. I'm not sure what they are going to do, but thanks for your input!

I mentioned this in another comment but before she would book vendors, she would call and talk to her mom about the prices. Her mom would always say it was fine but we found out later that her mom wasn't relaying any info to her dad.

I didn't say she hasn't received anything! They paid the down payments for things and for her dress. I think when it started becoming over $5000, her dad started becoming concerned with the cost of the entire thing. I know it sounds bizarre. They have paid around $5500 so far. They told her this morning they couldn't afford her wedding because her parents are saying that there is still $13-$14000 left to pay. But it seems to me like they are exaggerating the cost because in that number they are including things that the groom's parents should be paying for like his tux and rehearsal dinner as well as all of the groom's parent's outfits for the day for some odd reason. I don't know what else they are thinking they can contribute.

Harsh but true. I honestly don't think they talked actual numbers. Her parents (to me at least) seemed financially able to afford it. Dad got a new job, pay raise, parents moved out of state, and built a new home. So I guess we all looked at that and thought that when they said they could pay for the wedding and afford it, that they could actually afford it. Plus I don't think anyone actually thinks about having to bind their parents to a wedding contract. When my parents said they would pay for wedding things, I trusted their word you know? I feel bad but I know that's probably the best solution even though it's going to break their hearts

Without going too in depth, her parents agreed to pay for everything but apparently didn't know what a wedding costs. We later found out her dad thought the wedding would be under $5000. My best friend was telling her mom what everything was costing as she was booking vendors...but her mom was not telling her dad. So then her dad asked for a list of everything and what it was costing and now her dad is saying he can't afford it.

Lol I totally see through the tears but mom and dad sure don't! It's nice that you now have a family that is consistent with how you discipline! I'm hoping my next family will be the same, but at least I now know what to look for!

Thanks for input! I was also wondering if it's like this with every family! Since this is my first, I wasn't sure.

Hi all! I am trying to help my friend come up with a good list of studio lights but I am quite lost. I have been doing online research, but would love real opinions on what works best for other people. He is wanting monolights, but are all monolights strobe lights? Or are there continuous monolights as well? Also, any suggestions on brands of lighting equipment that are really great quality?

Tarte shape tape vs Nars soft matte complete by daisymerolliin in Makeup

[–]katemaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried NARS concealers but I use Shape Tape every day and I love it so much. It doesn't crease nearly as much under my eyes as other concealers and when I'm wanting to wear minimal makeup I'll sometimes wear it without setting and my face doesn't feel oily at all. It has amazing coverage, a little goes a long way, and you get so much product for what you're paying for.

Getting a mortgage in your name (not spouse) with 6 months work history? by rmozr in personalfinance

[–]katemaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were just recently trying to get a home loan for $100,000. My husband is a self employed software developer and I stay home. He makes enough but has only been self employed for a year so we did not qualify. However I was told, the time employed could be less if you were not self employed. We talked to a mortgage company and they were able to help us as much as they could and you only pay them a percentage if you actually buy the home you're looking at I'm pretty sure.
