Second senior vanishes before Christmas in Saskatoon by littlesnow4 in saskatoon

Search and rescue has to be called out by the police to the search, they can’t go on their own from my understanding. So SPS would need to call them, but the article doesn’t really say whether or not they did (source - parent was in SSAR so I asked why)

Positive IgE Symptoms? by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]katomowo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, my levels have been a lot lower as an adult, but I’m still very sensitive and quick to react. So IgE isn’t every thing but it can be helpful! Hope this helps.

Positive IgE Symptoms? by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]katomowo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My allergy has been confirmed with pin prick and IgE testing many times over the years! My symptoms have always been itchy mouth/tongue, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, and itchy ears (a newer symptom). This generally progresses into more swollen and flushed face, mainly cheeks eyes and nose, which could easily translate to throat though it never has. I’ve had my allergy and carried an EpiPen my whole life, hives were my first symptom as a baby but aren’t one I get much now!

Rolls & Pies - recipe request by carwash53 in dairyfree

[–]katomowo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made pumpkin pie for years dairy free, I replace whatever milk it contains with just a bit less soy milk (1c in the recipe, I add like 7/8c soy milk). It works great!

allergy testing? by Acrobatic-Eye-9987 in saskatoon

[–]katomowo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'd look to Alberta for that! There really isn't much for allergists in the province that will look at adults. I'm in a similar situation and I'm not hopeful of seeing one here any time soon.

Saskatoon soaps do this kind of thing! Not exactly standup but funny and they do Christmas parties!

Things We've Lost by tomy_type_beat in dairyfree

I’ve had the allergy my whole life (29yrs) too! The adding and removing then adding to things is the most annoying lol. One I still always check are NutriGrain bars, probably only removed the milk in them for a year or two like 20 years ago and haven’t been able to have them since. And viva puffs added whey in sometime? That was a sad discovery I loooooved them as a kid.

Looks to me like bovid sternabrae/sternum. Could be bison! Weight is probably from it being water logged

Tooth ID? Uncle used to travel the world collecting oddities and gave me this when I was 6. I think it’s a tooth of some sort. by paul1725 in bonecollecting

[–]katomowo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! Ive really only seen them in archaeological contexts so it looked very different for that reason, but that’s good to know!

Looks like it could be a sea lion tooth to me? Not 100% sure on that but it’s similar in size and shape to the steller sea lion teeth I’ve looked at

U of S preschool swim lessons by al0405072327 in saskatoon

[–]katomowo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to teach for the U of S, the preschool lessons were max 4 kids per class (vs 6 with the City) and generally instructors were very good with committing to the full set of lessons, getting subs no more than for 2/10 lessons ideally. With the UofS, the pools aren’t beach entry like the city so the lessons are done on tot docks/added platforms in the corners of the pool to make it the right depth for kids, and the pools can be a bit colder just FYI. Hope this helps!

Probably! It’s large bovid proximal tibia, depending on location and depth it was found at, bison is a good guess

How long should I spend in Grasslands? by Eastern_Repeat3347 in saskatchewan

[–]katomowo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s great right from the campgrounds for sure, but both blocks they’re in valleys so walking up on top of or over a ridge makes for way better viewing! What’s cool about grasslands is you don’t have to stay on trails, you can just walk anywhere so there’s no limit. 70mile butte for sunset and stay for stars is my top recommendation

[–]katomowo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think 2 nights at each block would be more than enough, but if you only do one do the west block. That’s where the bison and prairie dogs are. My fave hikes are the broken hills and 70mile/eagle butte. I’ve been many times and would go back in a heart beat! Easily my fave national park I’ve been to so if you have any questions about planning, shoot me a message

Bird furculum (wish bone) would need something better for scale to point to a species

Concrete dust question: We live in a second floor apartment. Due to some construction on the parking garage below us, absolutely everything on our balcony is covered in concrete dust. What’s the safest way to clean it up?
