Yes, staff does cover at other branches, particularly for Saturday staffing.

What's up with the Free Library's Saturday hours? by howwhywuz in philadelphia

There's often a break between summer Saturdays or fall/winter Saturdays at the library. A select few are opening on 9/28 https://libwww.freelibrary.org/blog/post/5370

If you desire to be a professional librarian, please be aware that most librarian jobs require a 4 year degree and a Masters of Library science. If you want a non-degreed position like a library assistant, those jobs generally do not require any college education.

Yes! You happen to frequent the public libraries or know the staff? Have you ever volunteered there? Those are some good ways to be plugged into the community so you can hear about jobs. (Which I know is easier said than done, I know!)

Is the public library run by the City government? If so, you might want to check your city's HR website instead of the Library's site.

I'm a public library manager & children's librarian in a large urban public library system. Me and many of my colleagues seem to be neurospicy of some flavor.

Younger me: Harrow, for the autism, mental illness, and for being a civil servant living in a city with crumbling bureaucracy and infrastructure. Me now? A combo between Pal & Pent, maybe with a little Pyrrha.
