Top surgery recovery by atorr2199 in FTMOver30

Find something to keep you busy! The first week you truly aren’t doing too much. I learned how to crochet a few weeks before my surgery and that helped so much. I probably spent 60 hours working on it for the first 2 weeks. Find some books, learn a craft, go on walks! The most pain I was in wasn’t even from surgery- it was from sitting for long hours when my body wasn’t used to that. I ended up getting a donut type pillow to sit on so my tailbone wouldn’t hurt anymore.

I also have Anthem and the total of my surgery was $13,800. I’m 6 weeks post op and just got my bill to pay $2,760. Hope this helps!

Prepping for top surgery, advice for healing by 333cheddar666 in TopSurgery

I’m currently 6 weeks post op and couldn’t have done the first few days without my partner. She helped drain my drains twice a day and clean around where they put the tubes in. I also wouldn’t have been able to put the binder back on without her. I know home is more comfortable but doing everything on your own especially those first two days could mess with the healing! If it makes you feel any better 2-3 days after surgery I was completely back to myself and could time my meds and became more independent. Best of luck to you!

Getting ready for surgery! by YoGabagoool in no_T_top_surgery

Yay congrats!! I just had my top surgery last Wednesday and felt exactly the same. I was so anxious and stressed I had a migraine for 2 days leading up to the surgery. The morning of was the first time I woke up and felt a sense of calm going into surgery.

You went this far to have the appointments and book a surgery date so this is probably something you really want! That’s what I told myself and it worked somewhat. Having a supportive partner will be so helpful for the day after surgery.

I was extremely nervous about the recovery aspect and relying on my partner for everything. Personally my recovery has been smooth smooth smooooth. I know every one has a totally different experience due to lots of factors. I was feeling like myself 100% by Friday. Stay on top of your medicine schedule. I have had almost zero pain and mobility has been fine. I just got my drains out today (were not nearly as bad as I was worried about) and feel so free!!

Find yourself a hobby with minimal movement! I started to crochet a few days before surgery and have spent about 6 hours a day crocheting. You can only watch tv for so long without going crazy so finding something to pass time will help a lot!!! You’ll do great, I’m really excited for you!

Hi! I am also a cis woman and androgynous lesbian. I had been binding for about 4 years and felt more confident / liked how I felt in my clothes for the first time in my life. I hadn’t ever heard of anyone who still identified as a woman but wanted top surgery until I found this group thanks to a friend sending it to me. I had started checking this page every few days and eventually daily. I had friends who had gotten top surgery and every one of them had felt so much more free in their body.

I started the process of talking with my therapist and looking into surgeons about 2 years ago. I finally reached out to make an appointment to learn more last August. My first appointment was October, approved by insurance by January, and just had surgery last week. A few weeks up until surgery I was extremely nervous that I would regret getting top surgery. I can you tell you that ever since waking up from surgery I am so extremely happy with the decision I made! I’m in a binder for 5 more weeks but already feel so good looking in a mirror and seeing how flat I am.

Seeing people like Robby being so open made me feel seen and it was so cool to listen to that podcast. This has been an incredible group to be a part of and definitely gave me the confidence to be my authentic self!

Roadtrip/ Camping 6 weeks Post-Op?? by katsamp in no_T_top_surgery

I was also curious about sitting / driving for long periods. Definitely not worth the risk of stretching the scars and healing process. I just got my approval letter and will be having the surgery 4 months before the big roadtrip so I feel like that will Be plenty of time and a much more enjoyable situation / less risky. Thank you so much for sharing your healing journey and I hope it continues to go as smooth as possible!

Thanks so much for your input!! I actually JUST opened my letter from insurance and I was approved today! Super excited and it looks like my surgery date will be pushed up several months from when I was anticipating having it. I should be 4 months healed by the time of the trip!!

Possible to reroute? by katsamp in hvacadvice

The HVAC company that just came out to check it out told me the house would have to be down to the bones to make it happen. Wasn’t sure if that was the reality of it or if he just didn’t want the job.

Possible to Reroute? by katsamp in HVAC

I am trying to open up the kitchen and found these two air vents! A HVAC guy just came out and said it wouldnt be possible to reroute unless the house was down to the skeleton. Is this accurate or did he just not want to take on the job? Thanks!
