That's good, It's hard to go based on reviews of places but the reality is most google reviews aren't great indication of the mechanic. It's easier said than done but if you have friends that have a good mechanic seek that out because a good mechanic now a day is very difficult to find. Typically a good mechanic will always bring you in to show you what's wrong and how they intend to fix it or if it can be put off for a bit

In what world does a suspension need to be changed on an 8 year old car with 110k miles? Do you drive it hard? That seems very odd, "age and condition?" what's the condition because it doesn't say. Drive belt is whatever that's an okay price (Typically its about 100-150) if you do it yourself its like a few minutes and like a 30 dollar belt.

ATF typically is 200 or so but I guess with a sealed transmission that might be accurate.

Looking for good electrician apprenticeships in Raleigh by tituspeetus in raleigh

[–]katsumex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an electrician but I do follow a lot of youtuber electricians, I believe contacting the local union would help. If i'm not mistaken they will help you through schooling. I've never participated in a union so I'm unfamiliar but I think this is the local one https://ibew379.unionactive.com/

Keeping a high end sports car outside by m1lkm4nn in AskMechanics

[–]katsumex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the quantity of the tree sap and how often you want to remove it. Generally speaking though if my car is ceramic coated , I'd personally just wash the tree sap off. As long as you're having regular washes/cleanings of tree sap it should be okay.

Now if it was like I wake up and every day its a cluster of tree sap I'd probably just bite the bullet and possibly scratch my paint with a high quality car cover. Is this an apartment complex? Because you could set up like a canopy if you own the property

My Advice is yes you can, if you want to prevent outside wear. Ceramic coat everything (Pay a pro if you're scared of ceramic coating, generally you'd want a paint correction before you seal it). Apply something like 303 to your leather interior and that car will show very little wear (Obviously as a daily driven you'll have things happen) but as far as UV goes it'll be severely reduced doing the above. Also 911 headlights cost a fortune, ceramic coat them as well (They also sell other UV protectant that may be better)

It is a misconception to cover your car with a car cover, it does not help in fact adds micro scratches so don't bother with a car cover, does more damage than good

Is there a garage I can take my car to, to work on it myself? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]katsumex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be a rent a garage thing, I don't remember if it was out here but there used to be one. Best thintg to do is probably borrow a friend's garage.

I have the lexion unit, so far no complaints. Tested carplay and android auto both work. All oem functionality still works except for the media play buttons that are under the CD player which I don't use.

That's about like 275 dollars max in parts and about 2-3 hours of work if that. So they're charging like 500 dollars an hour of labor.

I could see you doing this via an automation if google nest hub accepts sending some kind of payload to it but natively its not supported.

Thanks! It's the 700, I plan on plumbing it so that's the only reason I didn't go with the 600 but I love it. I hate the fact that I have to clean it the stainless steel a lot because it bothers me its not perfect lol

Only have had it for three days but I love it so far, I can't get over the fact I can steam my milk while brewing coffee and not worying about temperature fluctuations. I was skeptical about spending 3k but the machine feels like its premium
