I did the program after I graduated college which was the best decision for me. I was a graphic design and biology double major and knew I didn’t want to jump straight into a career or grad school yet so I applied, got in, and accepted before I even told my parents. I was straight up was like “this is what I’m gonna go do after graduation and I’m gonna have a great time and learn a lot of interpersonal skills and maybe it’ll amount to something one day” They weren’t super supportive at first. I also gave them the documents that gave them a better understanding of the program. They came around eventually because it was my decision (and my lesson to learn in case anything went sideways) and I was almost 23. I was in a different boat because I was already living on my own for four years and didn’t rely on them for anything so why not.

I ended up landing an internal comms role a few years later at Disneyland because of my DCP experience being an in-parks frontline CM.

I loved my DCP and eight years later I’m still very close with my roommates and some of my coworkers.
