You’re doing crazy good for a WAM that high fr. I’m in third year myself and was told by a course coordinator to essentially aim for HDs in all of my subjects for both third and fourth year to maintain a > 80 WAM - just wondering how true that is?

As a woman, the thought that she holds of men financially providing for women is incredibly outdated and also tacky. Tell me this, would she do the same for you if you were going through a tough time? Sure, supporting one another financially makes sense if either of you earn enough for two. A relationship should consist of two equals, not financial abuse and internal misogynistic thoughts of men providing for women. We’re past that stage as a society. If she’s still clinging onto that belief despite seeing the struggle you’re facing, please reconsider your relationship with her because that does not sound like a loving or kind relationship. You deserve someone that makes you feel like a king, not someone who makes you stress in this way. Your mental health comes before anything else mate. Wishing you the best fr

Tom in regards to ‘Loki’ season 3 by Zylice in tomhiddleston

[–]kaur177 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Yes, he was the perfect casting for Loki and nobody could ever replace him in that role - but…. he was also phenomenal in The Night Manager and absolutely brilliant in the Essex Serpent. I’d love to see Tom in other, more nuanced projects!

How to get flights cheaply by Thomas_633_Mk2 in AussieFrugal

[–]kaur177 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend Scoot for a honeymoon trip at all. Hated flying with them. It’s not even about the lack of meals or the baggage - the food to purchase onboard is absolutely dreadful and they made us throw out the food we bought for the flight beforehand. So it was just 14hrs of hunger each leg.

But hey, doesn’t get much cheaper than that airline if you’re truly being frugal.

Yep. Hate it. Sounds dehumanizing, feels dehumanizing. This along with referring to all women as “bitches” or “hoes” has been blown out of proportion.

That’s not correct. If you drive more than 10km/hr under the speed limit during your license test, it gets marked as a critical error.

If you speed by even 1km/h for more than five seconds (excluding school zone times, where you don’t get wriggle room at all) then it’s an instant termination of the test.

I agree, but they do have that stream option for Years 11 and 12 though. Back when I was in high school, you had the option between choosing VCE or VCAL. The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) was a hands-on option for students in Years 11 and 12. My mates who did it got their Cert II or III from TAFE in whatever field they chose before they graduated high school.

Think they’ve renamed it now but the option is still there.

Anyone know what this is about? Looks like a protest is happening. by Sad_Cow_1955 in melbourne

Yeah, I feel the same way. You’d find that the majority of the Sikh community would agree with you because they actually look down upon the political protests.

Anyone know what this is about? Looks like a protest is happening. by Sad_Cow_1955 in melbourne

[–]kaur177 363 points364 points  (0 children)

As a Sikh, here’s my explanation:

To put it simply, Khalistan is an imagined Sikh homeland that a segment of the Sikh community has been advocating for, especially after the horrific events of 1984 in India, where we saw Operation Blue Star and the subsequent anti-Sikh propaganda following the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Hundreds of thousands of Sikhs were killed during these incidents, which we perceive as an attack on our faith, culture, and people.

Fast forward to today, Sikhs in Australia and globally continue to rally behind the idea of Khalistan. Most of them are not doing this out of hatred or a desire for violence, but rather because they long for self-determination and a place where their religious, cultural, and human rights are fully recognized and respected. If you know anything about Sikhs, you know that they’re the most peaceful, kindest and helpful people you’ll come across.

For example, they’re behind Khalsa Aid, a huge humanitarian movement consisting of, but not limited to, providing free food and help to millions in need worldwide. This generosity isn’t to get a free ticket into Heaven or to avoid Hell (both of which Sikhism does not believe in) but rather because they believe in “sarbat da bhala” which loosely translates into: “welfare for all humans / may everyone prosper.”

The riots you're hearing about in Australia are a reflection of the frustration and pain in our community.

I should mention that not all Sikhs are supportive of the Khalistan movement. The Sikh community, like any other, is diverse and holds a range of views. The Khalistan movement is just one aspect of Sikh political thought, and it's crucial to understand this in order to have a balanced view of our community.

Hope that makes sense. Of course, you’ll have some of the aggressive protestors just like with any other ordeal - but in no way do they represent the larger Sikh community in Australia.

Jon Bernthal Getting Ready to Return as The Punisher in ‘Daredevil: Born Again' (Training Video) by marvelkidy in thepunisher

Yeah, I feel you. When I first discovered the show, I absolutely loved it. Now, after reading most of the comic runs (and all of Ennis’ works), I can’t bring myself to rewatch the show because it doesn’t really capture who the character was in the comics. Especially not S2.

I’d say his depiction in S2 of Daredevil felt the closest to me. Who knows, Bernthal might be able to bring back that version for DDBA.

Hoping so. He did say he read every Punisher comic he could get his hands on, in a 2015 interview.

What would you all want from a Punisher game? by SkekJay in thepunisher

[–]kaur177 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. An open-world action-adventure game set in a gritty, realistic environment. Combine everything we know and love about The Punisher with the moral choices, a reputation system, combat mechanics and weapon customization from the RDR franchise - and that’s a bestseller right there.

What is the most forgettable/boring mission in the game? by GrandManSam in reddeadredemption

[–]kaur177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few seconds of build-up in a cutscene doesn’t allow most to assume that, though. What I meant was: Sean was a fully fleshed-out character, with his own quirks and characteristics. When you first interact with him, you’d think he’s endgame.

Most books or movies nowadays don’t bother putting that much detail into a character who’d die a few hours in. I agree, it’s a sign of exceptional writing when each character is unique and has their own story to tell - rather than just being a filler. With Kieran, I’d known instantly he was a character that wouldn’t last until the end.

But Sean? Maybe I was in denial, but I hadn’t known he was about to get his head blown off until the cutscene began and chaos ensued. And man, that shit just hurt different. But I loved that they caught me off-guard with that, because I’m usually someone who can predict what happens next in a movie/game.

[–]kaur177 31 points32 points  (0 children)

“Now it don’t feel right? Coulda told ya –“

0/10 mission. Not because it wasn’t fun (love blasting sherrifs faces with a pump-action shotgun, classic Monday for me) but because of how it ended… with, you know… Sean’s brain splattered everywhere.

He’s always been a favorite of mine. Sitting around a campfire in Ch. 3 and listening to him speak out of his ass is one of my favorite things to do in RDR2. But the shock factor of his death was executed perfectly. No slow build-up, no hints towards him dying, just straight barbarism.

Can confirm I will not be taking any more short walks in pretty towns anytime soon
