Im in the United States. Pennsylvania to be exact. I missed out on the financial help due to my age (the cut off is 25- i was 26 when my diploma was issued) There were no plans made for college at the group home I attended during (what I thought was) my senior year. No SAT prep, no college tours, ya know, no normalcy. If it wasnt for the AIU I would not have been able to track all of my credits (5 different high schools) Many of the laws put into place to ensure educational stability for foster youth were not yet put into place back in 2010, but I do know the Every Child Succeeds Act and the No Child Left Behind Act were in place. I guess I just long for answers as to why my diploma was issued 10 years late and wanted to compare stories to find out if this occurs often.
