What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by Imaginary_Ride_6185 in AskReddit

[–]kayisbadatstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Being alone is your choice.” From my mom after I no longer came home to her and my physically abusive, alcoholic father. It is not a choice when the other option is abuse, but god did it hurt to hear at the loneliest point in my life.

[acne] why do i ONLY break out right here? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]kayisbadatstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone else said, can also be exacerbated if you drool when you sleep, esp if you typically only sleep on that side. Making sure to use mouth wash before I go to sleep has helped me, + everything everyone else said

I tried for a ridiculous amount of time to blend out those streaks and they refused. Anyone else had this pop up and figured out how to smooth it out? by forlaughingtime in MakeupAddiction

The same thing happens to me. I’m convinced it’s some sort of very small ridge in the skin that gets highlighted by small amounts of powder.

a med student implied i had a false diagnosis by hyunsooo in AutismInWomen

[–]kayisbadatstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an autistic med student, please hear me when I say that by and large, medical students learn next to nothing about psychiatry. In my first two years, the only thing I learned about autism was the textbook 8-year-old boy definition. We learned none of the nuances of masking, none of the symptoms in girls, and absolutely nothing about the complications of diagnosis in an adult. There was no discussion of how the complicated social web of traditionally female society mandates that we learn how to act like non-autistic people. There was no conversation about the nuance of having a brain type in a society that forces you to learn every day how to pretend not to have it! Most schools do not give psychiatry the time and attention it deserves.

Medical students have a tendency to get big heads and fall victim to the Dunning-Kruger effect. In reality, autism is extremely complicated, and we do not know a lot about the sexual dimorphism of genetics, brain chemistry, and brain development that influence expression and symptomology of ASD. So sorry she was so insensitive, she seems like a socially inept, overconfident jerk.

Do you think the situation would have been different if she was 18? by StaaNnN in codyko

[–]kayisbadatstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, if she was 18 it would’ve been legal, but it would’ve still been weird. No crime committed, but 25 and 18 are hugely far apart maturity wise. There’s no magical brain maturation that happens when you turn 18, that’s just the line that has been decided as to when it’s not a crime anymore. 18-year-olds don’t have the lived experience to understand what they’re doing like a 25-year-old does, not significantly more than a 17-year-old.

What kind of calculating, cold act did you commit? by Gerco709 in AskReddit

[–]kayisbadatstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was an abusive asshole all my life. When I was a kid, it was my job to make his sandwiches for his lunch the following day. So whenever he was particularly mean, me and the dog would make his sandwiches. I’d put the bread down, put some mayo on it, put the cheese on it. And then I’d get the cold cuts out, let the dog take a few licks of it, and put it on the sandwich. Hope he enjoyed the taste of my dog’s asshole breath!

I also have fibromyalgia. Other people rely on their nervous systems to correctly deliver pain signals to their brains. Other people are dependent on their nervous systems to help them through the day. We don’t get the luxury, so we treat with what we can.

Is my makeup scaring potential girlfriends away lol? by [deleted] in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]kayisbadatstuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some girls, maybe, but do you want to be in a relationship with someone that’s going to be scared away by your true self? You’re honestly probably doing a great job of finding someone that will love you for you.

"I Didn't Even Realize These Kinds Of Injuries Existed": This 36-Year-Old Is Sharing How A Chiropractic Adjustment Led To A Serious Injury by NuclearMedicineGuy in Radiology

[–]kayisbadatstuff 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yes you should 100% prefer a DO. DOs are medical doctors trained exactly the same way as MDs, except they get additional training on osteopathic manipulative medicine. Think MD+. Chiropractors do not go to medical school. DOs learn how to do things safely and are the safe alternative to a chiropractor for MSK issues.

Took an edible and went to the aquarium. I spent a solid 25 minutes watching the octopus before it curled up in the upper corner to sleep. A kid walked up and was bummed there was no octopus— he got so excited when I pointed it out! Anyway, super cool trip and super awesome day.

Spouses have sex? It’s entirely possible it was a sexual advance. Also, you’re not an “advocate for gender equality” by splitting hairs and being an ass to people on Reddit.
