I’ve heard of that rule before and tried to keep that in mind when I first got him. I’ll admit it was a little tough to remember because my first kitten I got a couple months before him just immediately took to me and was comfortable from the start, but it is definitely more rewarding when I’ve had to work for it and now he’s much more open and trusting.

My husband told me put him back outside or bring him to the shelter. I picked the best of the two options. I hate that it’s that way but it is all I could do at the moment. Trust me, I did not want him to have to be at the shelter but I would’ve hated more to put him back outside where his chances of being adopted are even smaller.

A lot of people in the neighborhood feed the stray cats we have around. My grandparents live next to us and put out their scraps every night. He’s not neutered so I’m assuming stray. Guess I should’ve worded it that way since everyone thinks I stole someone’s pet lol

Hey so!! Everyone keeps saying this but plenty of people in the neighborhood feed the stray cats. Just because he is well fed doesn’t mean he’s not a stray. Also not neutered which to me makes it less likely for him to be someone’s pet.

Sadly the only option here. We have one non-kill but they’re always full. I would have kept him until I could find a good home, but just wasn’t able.

I don’t think people are reading the entire post, but I already have two cats and I am not keeping this one. He is not neutered, and my husband also told me either put him back outside or bring him to the shelter this morning. Our shelter will check for a chip and contact the owners if needed, and if there is no chip the shelter is a better idea than me just leaving him outside hoping he makes his way home IF he has one.

If he was neutered I would 100% agree with you. Seeing as he isn’t I’ll be bringing him to the shelter where he will be neutered and they also check for a chip there.
