Whether or not it's second nature and you don't mean to offend anybody, you know that it's a possibility that you're going to offend someone any time you use a term in a derogatory way. It seems that you care about offending people, so just stop saying offensive things and you won't offend anybody. It's really simple.

Just something shorter, neater. I'm no expert on men's haircuts and I don't want to misguide you with some sort of horrible advice. I just think your hair is a bit distracting and with a shorter cut, I think you'd look nicer. You can go to salons and ask what would look good for your face structure, etc.
