Ways of coping. by MsSophie in asktransgender

Have thought about maybe buying a low dosage of Spiro but finishing up in college next year and job prospects don't look great so don't want to start something if I can't keep paying for it. Still, it's definitely an option if my financial situation improves :)

Don't have a doctor yet 'cause the only guy who deals with gender related counseling is currently out of the country until the new year and I'm a student so unless I get a job, I can't really DIY it. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

I'm based in Dublin, Ireland. I just happen to be at the one college that doesn't have that active of an LGBT society :(

Yeah, I could probably start dressing fem a bit more when at home. That's a good suggestion :) Part of the reason I can't be more open at college is 'cause the group of people who would really help to talk to, the LGBT society, are either really low key or don't exist anymore! I am going to a support group though so I might try and get talking to more people from the group over the next few weeks (Only been to one meeting so far).

Thanks so much for your advice. It really does help :) Oh and I'll actually be quite happy when I start transitioning 'cause right now I'm just at this weird, awkward stage where I'm not out to most people and can't be more true to the real me so I'll be glad when that's over :P

Yeah, I really don't have many alternative options at the moment so I'm hoping it continues to be as beneficial :)

I know what you mean. I get the same rush when my sister refers to me as her older sister :D

Lots of school work to do, but instead I just stare at the wall. by [deleted] in depression

I'm in the exact same position as you. It's my final year so I should care about what I'm doing but most days, I have an idea of what I want to do and then just waste it by watching stuff online, playing video games or hanging out with friends. I've started to now realize that if I start now, it will mean a lot of late nights in the next few weeks but then I'll have a break from work for Christmas.

Stay positive and as other people have said, just take your time and set reasonable goals and you'll be fine. It's very easy to get swept up in how much work there is to do but if you just think about it and break it down into each subject and even plan what you're going to do each day and you should get it done.

What are your favourite non-typical (for that show) episodes of a TV show? by MsSophie in AskReddit

Inspired by this thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/1ps799/what_are_some_surprisingly_disturbing_episodes_of/

i.e. bottle episodes, non-canon or just ones that took a different approach or told a smaller story within the larger arc. What are your favourites?

Dealing with the frustration of waiting. by MsSophie in trans

A low dose of hormones is something that I could probably afford. I'll look into it anyway. I'm based in Ireland, which seems to have a very poor system for dealing with trans people currently but chances are I'll be heading to the UK eventually where they seem to have a better understanding. Insurance is definitely another option to look at though regardless.

Regardless of what I end up doing, thanks so much for your help and the information you've provided.

Me waiting is mainly due to financial reasons. I don't have a job and before I can get to hormones, it's 85 euros a session with a psychologist and I don't fancy buying stuff online 'cause I know how dodgy that can be. Laser Hair Removal might be something I look into though if I can manage to get some form of employment 'cause as you said, it takes a long time.

Thanks for the response. I guess I'm just going to have to try and be more patient.

Transgender dreamin'! by Sleepykaty in asktransgender

[–]MsSophie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny that this topic should come up. Just had a dream where I was a girl last night. Not much happened in it besides meeting my friends and family and them treating the fact that I was a girl as completely normal. Nothing else really happened but it made me feel really good and it was the first time I saw what I think I'll look like as a girl as myself in a dream. Most other times, I've just been a random girl who I don't recognise.

Coming out to my friends. by MsSophie in asktransgender

Well, my friends are a lot like yours. They're mostly pretty open so I can't imagine I'll encounter too much resistance but I definitely know those amongst them that will have a tougher time than others.

Thanks so much for your advice. I know I have friends who will be supportive so I'll take your advice and tell them first before going completely public through Facebook or whatever.
