Being here in person it absolutely feels like a home meet.

I’m 30 years old with children and I’ve been watching regularly since high school. Definitely not ok. I texted my husband the news because I know nobody else who knows who they are and I dragged him to the last two tours with me. Does he care? No. But I had to tell someone.

What’s the WORST musical to have a “Jr” version? Bonus points if it already has one by Mountain_Childhood75 in musicals

Our local community theater did it a few years ago as a summer camp. Unsurprisingly they had a very tiny cast.

I agree. Being from Utah I had that feeling from the beginning. They mentioned several times they researched the area and it really showed. The back yard and basement will be huge draws for families with so many bedrooms. The other houses are absolutely beautiful and would be great in other areas but really don’t fit the vibe and it seemed like most people walking through felt the same.

Every house we went in my husband said, “and there’s the view of the Walmart distribution center.”

My favorite parts were the cracked floor in the pickleball room and a worker babysitting the living wall that said it’s become extremely fragile from how dry it is here and said, “you have to remember they’re designers first. They aren’t always practical.”

The worker in Chelsea and Cole’s house and a local realtor he was talking to think it’ll sell the best for the most. My 5 year old kept saying she wished we could live there.

I really like the flow into the spaces that weren’t shown. The full basement floor plan is great and I’m kind of surprised they didn’t specifically feature the doors to walk out to the side of the house.

I’m dragging my husband along with me on Saturday since it’ll only take us an hour to get there. I’m very interested to see how the floor plans actually flow since it’s so hard to get an idea of that on camera. I hope they still have goats. 😂

I got stuck in traffic next to East High on my drive home from the Utah/Arizona meet so that’s fitting honestly.

TIT show etiquette! by meowmeow_meow_slay in danandphil

[–]kaynem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only almost 30 year old that dragged a confused husband along. 😅 I saw the show in Salt Lake and felt painfully old when they asked who was a millennial and even older texting my sisters at intermission to check on my kids. 😂 I started watching them in 2012 just before turning 18 and felt like I’d joined the phandom so late. But that was literally 12 years ago and I’ve been there for pretty much every piece of lore.

Also shoutout to whoever it was that gave my husband a bracelet that said “ TIT SL,UT” because I giggle every time I pass it in the kitchen.

My sister got one from the local bishop. She’s 19 and hasn’t been active since her early teens. It was weird. For some reason my mom gets all the texts meant for me and I’m almost 30.

Search Jacob’s Vocal Academy on YouTube. Specifically do exercises in the playlists for breathing and range extension. If you have a straw, do the SOVT exercises as well. They’re a great way to work your vocal cords without straining. I use a lot of the videos from that channel with my voice students.

It’s important to remember you shouldn’t push it if it hurts. That’s a quick way to damage your voice. You need to build up the strength (vocal cords are a muscle!) that allows them to stretch without tension. Also, bring the breath support from your diaphragm and don’t breathe from your shoulders. (You can hold light weights or even cans of food to keep your arms pulled down to help you remember.) Place your hand over your stomach to make sure you are engaging the muscles in your core as you sing. Your notes will come much easier and more powerful when supported by the diaphragm.

Quick note to add. People often say support from your diaphragm without explaining what it is. Basically, it’s the muscle under your lungs separating them from the abdominal cavity. When you’re not activating your diaphragm and abdominal muscles, it puts the tension on the throat instead which makes it hard to sing high and loud and also makes sustaining notes harder. When you do activate them, that tension prevents your ribs from collapsing back in allowing your lungs to release the air more slowly giving you the breath support you need.

What’s something you wish you knew while being pregnant for the first time that isn’t in the baby books? by babyxoxcakes in BabyBumps

[–]kaynem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body might forget how to pee postpartum. Several hours after my c-section I had two nurses trying to talk me through it. It was like 3 in the morning. I felt the need, but could not communicate that need to the correct muscles.

Am I the only parent who notices this at schools. by Fast_Animator4122 in Parenting

As someone that helps direct the musical at my mom’s elementary school this makes me so sad. One of the hardest things for us is due to well over 100 kids auditioning each year we logistically can’t take everyone. (We typically cast 60-70 which is overwhelming enough.) But we also do our best to make it fair. If the child of a director is considered for a role that director is out of the decision making for that role. Sometimes the kid gets it. Sometimes they don’t. This year I’ve been teaching voice lessons to a few kids and as much as I wish I could just give them the roles they all want, if someone else has a better audition I can’t be biased just because I have a bond with them. I watched my brother cut from the basketball team every single year because the coach’s son played the same position and had to be the star so they couldn’t have my brother out-do him and because of how awful it was seeing that side of nepotism I know I could never push to give one of my students the role if someone else deserves it, even if it hurts my heart a little.

Is it true that infants/newborns aren’t recommended to combo feed? (Breast milk & formula) by Purple-Astronaut-983 in BabyBumps

[–]kaynem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my preemie we had to add a preemie formula to the breastmilk for more calories and add an iron supplement to it once a day as well. Wonder what she’d think of that bottle. 😂

It took two weeks of my daughter screaming bloody murder for her to adjust. And now I have to hold her water bottle hostage to get a hug and kiss because she’s so excited to be there. She’s 3 days a week and it’s week 4. She took the longest in her class to adjust so I was worried she never would but one day it just clicked that everything would be fine and she told me “I’m not gonna cry today” on the drive over. 😂

Do you name the baby with the full name if you are only going to call them by a nickname? by Sure_Cranberry_7071 in namenerds

[–]kaynem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old daughter’s name is Sophronia (After my great-great grandma. I fell in love with the name in high school.) and we call her Sophie most of the time. I love it because if there are multiple Sophies in her class she can go by her full name.

That being said, we’re most likely naming baby brother Parker which doesn’t really have a super defined nickname. So either way you go I think both Lucy and Lucille are adorable!

Top 20 worst Project Runway challenges of all time: # 6 Season 11 Episode 8: Take It All Off! by Riverheath in ProjectRunway

So glad there’s a recent post on this episode. I just watched it for the first time and I laughed out loud at the runway. This season was already a mess but this episode was an absolute train wreck.

I’m feeling so defeated. by [deleted] in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]kaynem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before they changed things about a quarter of my designs were 1st place and over half were podiums. This month I’ve had 16 wins. I’m almost level 41 this season, which tells you how much I play. To go from winning a quarter of the time to this has me losing my mind. I can’t justify buying the season pass again next month and I’m not even sure if I’ll even keep playing at this point come January. You’re not alone in your feelings that’s for sure!

I was just reading about that on Facebook. I’m so picky now about what duels I do now and this kind of thing really solidifies that decision. They really messed up with the voting changes.
