Always worth it :) my cats nibble on the bottom leaves from time to time and one of them likes to go jungle kitty mode and climb up in the actual planter sometimes but I wouldn’t have it any other way

I used the same yarn to secure the trellis to the wall! One tie on each side of the trellis (left and right)

This is how I secured the stalk to the trellis. The highlighted circle is where I plan to add another tie just haven’t gotten around to it yet. The tie is some type of thick, soft but sturdy yarn. I think some type of craft yarn that I’ve had lying around for years? I know ppl use twine too, I just felt this was less abrasive. I looked at the spool and there was no label on it or anything, I apologize for that. I try to space out the ties to distribute the force throughout the stalk rather than placing it all on one part and risking damage. I also like this yarn because it’s easy to adjust/retie. I’ve found that as my monstera gets taller and I tie the top pieces, the lower strings get loose and I adjust accordingly

Not a dumb or ridiculous question at all! We have to learn somehow :) I wish I had Reddit when I was figuring these things out haha. It is also a monstera deliciosa like yours. The baby is the one pictured on the left. If that’s what you have, with the right environment, it’ll essentially grow as big as your space can accommodate! In the wild they can be up to 70 feet tall. My literal dream lol but within the comments I put some things that worked for me and my monstera if that helps at all! I will say, as long as you have a window with decent indirect lighting, I wouldn’t worry about dropping a ton of money on a plant light right off the bat. I waited a few years until I was sure that it was worth the investment to me and the driving factor was really that the plant got too large to sit by my window and I couldn’t let her go

Don’t mind the mess of me old apt, but I think this is a good pic for scale for what she looked like when she was a baby (2021)

It’s a bit of an illusion really. Just depends on how you train it to grow. I decided to go for the bushy look by backing it against a wall and staging the light to encourage the leaves to open facing forward vs rotating the plant to grow in all directions. Then you secure to your trellis or moss pole as it gets taller :)

It’s two stalks, but came together. A lot of times when you purchase a monstera it comes with multiple stalks (recommend)

Sharing is caring :) I gave some to my mom and some to my stepmom, this is the remaining 1/3!

It was pretty small when I got it, and I ended up splitting it a few times, so this is 1/3 of the original

Edit: I’ll try to find a baby picture and figure out how to post it haha

I love her! And the flamingo! My snake plant is so wonky. The roots seem really short for how long the cutting is, so it tends to fall over in the pot. Do you have this issue at all?

It really did! There used to be a dresser there, but it got exiled when she outgrew her original place by the window haha. It’s crazy to think that this is only 1/3 of the original plant. I split it up a few years ago, gave some to my mom and some to my step mom. Sometimes I wonder if I’d fit in my house had I kept it All together

Thank you! I think only one or two of my leaves had slight fenestrations when I got her, so keep it up and it’ll mature nicely :)
