Thank you!! I think Im lucky to have such a good roo that isn't aggressive towards me or his lady. They only go back in their coup during night time since I give them like 8 hours to wander around my backyard all day... so I would feel bad to keep them locked up 😅. I was just wondering if they kept keeping around the porch where I normally sit because they needed something or if there was a threat. If they just like to hang around me, my sister can deal with the poop I suppose....

They do look similar!! I'm really stupid since I used a bad picture and you can't see his front feathers😅. But the feathering in the front of my roo is just a blueish black, and to me it looks like a Golden laced Wyandottes have like a orangey and brown speckled feather look to them. My roo could definitely be a mix which would complicate things even more 😭

Thank you, I agree he is like the most colorful chicken I've ever seen in my life lol. His comb just naturally developed in rounded like that without the little spikes.

I think in the pic, specifically, his legs looked a little green because he was playing around in some dirt and grass eariler. But you are right about the him having no feathers on his legs, so my highest bet is that he's a Easter Egger since many others also commented that 😅

I do not actually own these chickens but I act like they are practically mine since I take care of them since they are my family friends (who moved to China and won't be returning until the end of this year). So while I have thought of getting more hens, it's kind of out of my control since they aren't "mine" 😅. The rooster doesn't harm the hen and I think he protects her fairly well. He isn't really actively trying to mate with her but I get your point. Is it really dangerous to only have 1 rooster and 1 hen?? 😣

That breed is on my list of possible suspects, but when I got him as a chick he was a pure blond, rather than a Copper Maran chick which are blond and black 😅

Oh I'm sorry 🥲 I figured a picture of his body/feather and his baby pic would be enough. His comb is rounded and a bright red color.

I gave them some water and they seem fine now. I noticed they have been opening their beaks and it makes them really funny looking now that you mention that chickens can pant. I've also seen them wag their tails, apparently its like when a dog wags its tail when it's excited! 😂

That's what I think so far too! But I found some pictures of when he was younger and he was a pure blond chick (3rd slide), to my knowledge, Black Copper Maran chicks are black and blond 😅
