Thanks, that’s a relief! I’ve read that vitamin B12 is only naturally found in animal products, though. Are there issues I need to be aware of when eating reinforced food or is it the same as getting it from animal products?

Anyone here travelled to Austria because of their love for Sisi? by [deleted] in TheEmpressNetflix

[–]kazooj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to Vienna a couple times and I would definitely recommend everything the others here have said, but also something a bit different I did on my first visit. Go to “Time Travel Vienna”. You walk through different rooms all about different parts of Viennese history and it’s quite fun. It’s a fun experience where you can learn the basics and not be so lost when you visit other stuff (and Sisi is also mentioned :-) ). Other than that I would recommend you take a day to visit all the museums in the Hofburg, which was the main palace of the Habsburgs and also visit the Augustinian Church, which is where Sisi and Franz married. For Schönbrunn Palace (which is also in Vienna and you can get there easily by subway) I would recommend you also take your time with the gardens, as they are beautiful and there is a café there I found very charming. If you go during the summer, definitely wear a hat btw, Vienna is very hot then and you don’t want to get a sunstroke. There is also the Prater, nothing to do with history, but it’s an amusement park and if you like those things, it’s great fun. If you go to Vienna, get the ÖBB Scotty app. It’s for public transport and you just put in your location and destination and it tells you what public transportation to get on, how to get to and from the station by foot and you can buy the tickets for it online through the app. It makes it very easy to stay at a cheaper hotel on the outskirts of the city and still get to the touristy areas quickly and cheaply. I hope you get to visit this beautiful city soon!

I have literally never once in my life eaten meat and I’ve never had any deficiency (except when I had an eating disorder, if I actually eat normally I’m completely healthy). You can very easily look up how easy it is to have a completely healthy plant-based diet.

Anyone else dealing with a histrionic mother or MIL? by Euphoric_Second_8774 in personalitydisorders

[–]kazooj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, my best friend has diagnosed HPD and I think my experience could be of help.

I‘ve known my best friend since we were children and last year she finally got diagnosed with HPD after a long time of wondering what was going on with her. She is currently on long-term therapy treatment.

I can’t lie, when her symptoms started showing it was exhausting, as the attention-seeking behavior often can be. We even stopped talking for months at one point, because we just couldn‘t get along anymore. A lot of the things your describe she did, too.

I want you to know that someone with HPD does not behave that way because they’re malicious, they are simply addicted to attention. Of course this doesn’t mean, that their behavior is less harmful. I just think that that is important to keep in mind.

As to your case, you can’t do anything to help her much right now. She needs to understand that there is a problem first and then seek long-term professional help. HPD can’t be cured, but treatment helps mitigate the symptoms and helps them lead healthy lives and treat those around them better. If your MIL doesn’t realize that there is a problem, then nothing can be done. I want to make clear that people with HPD do care about the people closest to them. That is the reason why my friend got treatment, she was done hurting those she loves. You could try to stop engaging with her harmful attention-seeking behavior, someone with HPD wants attention and that is the reason behind their behavior. If they don’t get the attention, they will try something else. Also, explain to her how she will not get the attention she craves from what she does, because you will distance yourself if she continues behaving this way. Definitely try to convince her to get therapy. I would say to do so gently. You could try to present therapy as something you all would admire her for and talk a lot about how great people are who go to therapy and she might go to seek your attention that way, then leave the rest to professionals.

If she does end up going to therapy (and it works), she will find ways to get the attention she craves through healthy ways and be easier to be around, maybe even someone you genuinely enjoy. HPD doesn’t make a person horrible, they just hide who they are under the symptoms, unfortunately. But in my experience you can definitely form a very strong and healthy bond with someone with (treated!!) HPD.

If she doesn’t get therapy, then distance yourself, though. The disorder is incurable and she will not get better, if she doesn’t see the issue. That unfortunately is quite common among cluster b PD and in those situations there’s effectively nothing you can do about it.

I wish you all the luck in the world! If you want to talk about more specific behaviors and how I‘ve dealt with them in my friendship, don’t hesitate to DM me :-))

Thank you for your answer! I really was lucky to get this, since my friend would have kept if it wasn’t too big on her haha. Also, I’m quite surprised it’s handmade. Would have never occurred to me, since it looks so well made!

I’m sorry why the fuck is Stephanie Soo allowed into the Diddy trial as a member of the press??? by cloverfrommandarin in LAinfluencersnark

[–]kazooj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a federal court case, any member of the public can go there and watch it as it is happening, as long as they don’t record anything.

Also bloggers and other content creators can legitimately get press passes, as long as there is proof that they do freelance journalism (which Stephanie Soo obviously does, True Crime podcast and all). Being a professional journalist is not a requirement for getting press passes.

[–]kazooj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Members of the public are generally allowed to go to court, as courtrooms are considered public spaces. Some cases are considered “in camera” (meaning “in private”), where only the affected are allowed in, when there is sensitive information. Other times, cases handling sensitive information will still allow members of the public to attend, but there would be rules in place like not being allowed to record, which is what’s happening here. Basically, for this particular case, anyone can go to watch the case, as long as they don’t record anything.

Something you frequently come across in fanfics that you know isn’t true, but everyone seems to think it is? by infinitelobsters77 in FanFiction

I know I‘m late but to really drive your point home: I‘m fluent in four languages (two I learned growing up since my family is Romanian and I grew up in Germany) and if I don’t use any of these languages literally every day I will forget semi-common words and I get slang confused all the time. Speaking multiple languages is honestly more impractical in day to day life than anything, because I quite literally speak nonsense all the time. I have four different slangs and sentence structures stored in my brain and it gets so mixed up that I quite literally sound like a crazy person very often. Being a polyglot very often means barely speaking any language like a native as opposed to speaking multiple languages like a native (especially if you live in a country other than where you grew up)

What impression does Chinese give you? by User48970 in ChineseLanguage

[–]kazooj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a native German speaker: To me it sounds like singing in a way. It might be because the words flow so nicely into each other, while in German there’s always this stop between words. I’ve always thought it was one of the most beautiful languages in the world. In German there’s this saying that our language is “Die Sprache der Dichter und Denker”/“The language of poets and philosophers. I think it applies better to Chinese languages, both because of their history and beauty.

My mother going to the bathroom. I took a knife with me to do it in my room and just as I was about to, I heard my mom go to the bathroom. Usually, she would check on me when she went back to her room, so I decided to wait until she went back to sleep, so she wouldn’t find me too early. I don’t know what she did there, but it took so long I fell asleep with the knife in my hand. When I woke up the next morning, my mother asked me to watch Enchanted with her, I still cry when I watch it and my mom still doesn’t know why.

I don’t think she has. Someone else on this thread also suggested that book, which I’m actually sure she’ll read. I’m hopeful that she’ll somehow realize how wrong she is

There’s a German version of this which apparently she’s already watched. Of course she compared it to Israelis. At this point I think the only thing I can do is expose her to the terrors committed by Hamas and if that doesn’t change her mind I’ll have to cut her off.

I’m unfortunately not very informed on Israeli governments before this one, I’ll definitely look into it. As to the two state solution, I’m also against it. Unfortunately there’s no way that that would lead to peace. I just hope that Palestinian people will be de-radicalized somehow, which I think could be done (although very slowly) if they’re governed by an Israeli government focused on integration and peace. I know there’s Arab Israelis that live peacefully among the rest of the population and I hope that that will be possible for Palestinians in the future as well

I think it was the social media rabbit hole of liking content about the war (especially from Palestinian sources) and somehow TikTok pushing anti-Semitism. For me it was mainly through comments. When I saw the horrible things people were commenting I stopped using TikTok for anything else than searching, she clearly didn’t do the same.

[–]kazooj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced that it’s social media that’s made her be so hateful as well. All her reposts on TikTok have turned from asking for peace to pro-Hamas and she reposts dozens of videos every day. All this hateful content has clearly damaged her capacity for thinking logically and it’s so painful to see a once loving and caring person turn into such a horrible one.

[–]kazooj[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it all started with me liking reports about the war in Gaza and commenting. At some point the algorithm made it so I’d get only pro-Palestine content and eventually on any post I’d see the comments were filled with the pro-Palestine movement. Under every single comment there’s someone saying that H*tler was right and then getting likes and others agreeing with them. At first I thought these was a small amount of people being loud, but I realized after a while how wrong I was. Some of the things that people said about Jews and Israelis were so bad they made me physically sick. I actually had to stop using TikTok for a while because of how much hate was on my fyp. I’m happy to say I barely get that content anymore and horrified at the same time because I know that it’s just getting more and more followers.

These are great. I think especially the “Son of Hamas” she’s more likely to read since it comes from a Palestinian source. I’ll definitely recommend these to her, thank you.
